Job Description


AAMC-s Information Technology organization is beginning a multi-year modernization of its large application portfolio into an API based digital platform while transitioning from on-premise to cloud services. IT and its business partners have been on a multi-year journey to evolve from a project management to a product management culture that leverages Agile and DevSecOps to improve quality and efficiency. As the Director of Application Operations and DevSecOps you will be an essential leader in driving change in the organization within four areas of responsibilities.


You will collaborate with IT Leadership and AAMC external Service Providers to develop the vision, business case, and roadmap for the DevSecOps function. 2. You will establish a collaborative working environment between the Development and Infrastructure teams as the organization transitions from a shared services model to a cloud-based DevSecOps model. You will improve the product quality by defining and implementing a formal Quality Assurance program with Continuous Integration/Deployment capabilities. You will implement and maintain robust application monitoring and event management practices consistent with AAMC-s IT Services Management (ITSM) processes.


Ideally you will have had experience providing thought leadership and vision in the areas of Quality Assurance and DevSecOps, implementing a change of this kind from start to finish in a complex organization, defining and collecting metrics to measure quality and efficiency improvements over time, developing and operating mission critical systems in the cloud.


You will report to the Senior Director of Application Services in IT and will work closely with Senior Leaders from Information Security, Technology Operations, and Enterprise Architecture. You will also manage 12+ employees and 25+ contractors.

How will you make an impact?


* Collaborate with IT Senior Leaders to develop the vision for DevSecOps that supports the IT strategic plan and transformation

* Develop a practical roadmap to implement necessary DevSecOps capabilities and lead the execution through collaboration and tangible results

* Integrate DevSecOps practices into the Product Development Lifecycle to help product teams organize deployment activities and manage interdependencies

* Apply DevSecOps principles and best practices to help drive quality assurance, product reliability, and team knowledge sharing to deliver quality systems that meet customers- expectations

* Establish a collaborative working environment between application development and infrastructure teams by working on planning, design, and technology initiatives together

* Manage a team of agile practitioners, software engineers and quality engineers; create an internal environment of teamwork, sharing, enthusiasm and mutual respect

* Create a data-driven culture with respect to Engineering productivity and outcomes by developing tangible agile, quality and DevSecOps metrics to measure team performance and productivity

* Nurture and support a strong engineering culture with a product focus

* Form trusted relationships with business partners necessary to achieve the vision, improve quality, and gain efficiencies

* Direct the development of the QA strategy, methodology, discipline and framework. Drive improvements in the areas of automated, in-sprint and regression testing

* Lead a QA COE for the organization that drives change and improvements across all product lines including the proper use of available tools, methods and standards

What you-ll bring to the role:


* B.S. in Computer Science or a relevant discipline required. Master-s degree highly desirable.

* Minimum 10+ years of progressive leadership experience managing complex IT organizations, with at least 6 years managing the engineering and operations function of a complex product portfolio

* Managing $2M - $5M of budget with at least 15 team members

* Integrating internal engineering activities with large service providers employing both on-site and offshore development sites

* ITIL and CSM certifications are required

* Expert knowledge in Agile Scrum practices such as Scrum and Kanban, ITIL/ITSM standards

* Expert knowledge of DevSecOps in product life cycles in On-Premise and Cloud environments

* Practical knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture, containerization and Microservices.

* Positive, enthusiastic attitude with strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, reflecting the ability to interact with cross departmental groups

* Ability to work under pressure and solve problems using an analytical approach; decisive, fast moving; quick and constructive resolutions of conflicts with a goal-oriented mentality

* Ability to mentor product team members and promote improvements in their professional skills to be part of a successful DevSecOps transformation

* AWS cloud skills a plus


If a bachelor-s degree is required, related work experience may be substituted in some positions. One year of college course work at an accredited institution is equivalent to one year of related work experience.
