Job Description

Headquartered in Los Angeles, with nearly 100 registered offices, the firm focuses on dedicated service, client financial safety, continuity, and advanced technology.

Wedbush Securities is the largest subsidiary of holding company Wedbush, Inc. which also includes affiliated firms. We are seeking a Director of Technology to oversee all aspects of software development for our Clearing & Prime Services division within Wedbush Securities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders of Clearing & Prime Services Business Unit
  • Engage key business leaders in order to determine requirements and translate those requirements into software solutions
  • Analyze and verify business requirements for completeness, accuracy, comprehensibility, scalability, and conformity to best practices
  • Establish, build, and maintain working relationships with stakeholders, technology team members, vendors, and other departments as needed
  • Encourage team work and enable effective collaboration
  • While working with the PMO group, plan project timelines and milestones within each phase and estimate resources needed to achieve project goals
  • Maintain and enhance complex trade processing systems
  • Work closely with the Client-Onboarding team to assist with IT solution delivery in order to successfully onboard broker/dealer clients as well as migrate existing clients from old securities processing system to new one
  • Work with vendor and in-house teams to build system functionality needed to onboard new clients
  • Provide innovative solutions to solve business problems in a fast-paced environment
  • Develop, maintain and execute user acceptance test plans
  • Lead testing efforts and approve for deployment after successfully conducting various test packs (smoke, regression, and/or volume) where applicable
  • Ensure that issues are identified, tracked, reported and resolved in a timely manner
  • Develop and manage deployment plans with the solution delivery team
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and analysis to the senior management of Clearing & Prime Services division
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 10 years of experience in the Information Technology space, or extensive experience can be substituted as appropriate
  • An enthusiastic, high-energy and motivating leader who is visibly passionate and capable of inspiring and galvanizing an organization
  • Knowledge of Information Technology disciplines, including large scale project management, Agile development, enterprise and data architecture, strategic planning, system development, database development, client support services, program management, product development
  • A strong balance of strategic and tactical skills, with a high level of intellectual, agility and capacity for original thought
  • Experience preferably in the financial services industry (Securities broker/dealer, clearing firm, banking, mortgage)
  • Experience in building high quality customer solutions using Microsoft technologies
  • Deep understanding of enterprise and data design patterns
  • Innate ability to drive projects successfully from start to completion
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Strong commitment to provide quality results to external as well as internal clients
  • Ability to map technology trends to business impacts and propose innovative solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Effective at prioritizing multiple projects in an Agile environment
  • Experience in financial services industry, preferably in FINRA covered broker/dealer organizations
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
