The Enterprise Monitoring Engineer is part of a team responsible for the tools that monitor critical applications and infrastructure. This includes: alerting and escalation mechanisms, dashboards and overall framework to support the management of ISC systems, network, and applications on multiple platforms in diverse locations.
Maintain the software that monitors the performance, speed, configuration and security of the network, optimizing the utilization of the network and computing resources, detecting bottlenecks and DoS attacks, and monitoring critical network and system components such as routers, switches, servers, and storage. Develop scripts and small programs, integrating tools and participating in system testing, needs assessment, and technology recommendations. Acting as a Subject Matter Expert ( SME ), apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to develop and customize enhancements to monitoring tools. Working in a team environment, interact with colleagues across the division and provide guidance through training and coaching to meet or exceed customer expectations.
Bachelor s degree and a minimum of three years of related technical experience in Linux and Windows environments, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with IT Infrastructure Monitoring tools for Network Performance Monitoring and Diagnostics and/or Application, Infrastructure Availability and Performance Management. Detailed understanding of IP networking technologies (including SNMP v3 debugging and routing protocols). Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and to learn technical skills independently. Experience developing web applications (Python / Django preferred), using version control platforms such as Git, and automation/orchestration tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Docker, and Jenkins is highly desirable. Previous experience working with and developing SQL databases (MySQL and PostgreSQL) is preferred; an understanding of 802.11 WLAN technologies preferred; experience with network management applications and MIBs; familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, Brocade command lines desirable.
