The Business Analytics team is looking for an ETL Specialist to support the application development of a new customs project initiative in the Supply Chain portfolio. This ETL Specialist must be familiar with building data pipelines to load data from a source database into a data warehouse or data mart. The ETL specialist will also be familiar with databases, writing queries, and should have experience using tools like IBM DataStage. This will be a T&M agile engagement and will require dedicated resources. The expectation is that these resources will participate in daily standup calls and be active members of the agile development team. This candidate will be capable of imagining the front end of a business partner facing solution and delivering a dashboard experience that allows business partners to better make decisions.
The customs team has recently approved a capital project to create new import and export dashboards, to be used when company imports or exports vehicles from the US. In addition to import and export compliance, the project will also facilitate improved duty drawback through penalty reduction. Dashboards will be used for internal business partners to pay a 3rd party supplier to classify drawback payments, giving the company an opportunity to reduce costs. Dashboards will also give business users the ability to track drawback payments and monitor savings.
Responsible for extracting data from various sources, transforming the data as required, and loading it to various target (ETL) database(s) and/or structures
Analyze and review complex object and data models and the metadata repository in order to structure processes and data for accuracy, efficiency, and maintainability
Work with various levels of project managers, data modelers, DBAs, and system administrators to design load processes and identify potential problem areas
Create complex data loading processes for Operational Data Stores, Data Warehouses and Data Marts that satisfy all functional and technical requirements
Collaborate with the Data Architect to understand, interpret, and implement complex data integration requirements
Work with internal business clients to solve data integrity issues and ensure timely data availability
Assist in data load monitoring and problem resolution. Take action to resolve recurring issues
Good experience with DataStage software - development who can advise team on best practices, capabilities and limitations
A successful candidate should have 5 to 7+ years of ETL and database experience, additional analytics experience is a plus.
Experience delivering BI and Data Warehouse solutions with both Dimensional and Relational modeling a plus
Proven experience with SQL and relational databases (Oracle 11g preferred)
Solid design, coding, testing and debugging skills
Strong analytical and good communications skills
Knowledge of standards and practices in BI, Data Warehousing, ETL and DataStage
Ability to develop DataStage guidelines and standards
Excellent communication skills are essential
Familiar with: Windows, Unix/Linux, PL/SQL, Shell Scripting
Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is needed
