The mission of the Electrical Systems Assurance Department is to ensure the successful definition, design, procurement, manufacture and integration of survivable electrical, electronic and opto-electronic systems for National Security Space Programs, civil and commercial space programs, and launch vehicles.

This role can be filled as an Aerospace Member of Technical Staff or Senior Member of Technical Staff

Key Functions
  • Provides technical support to DOD, NRO, civil, and commercial programs in areas of systems engineering and integration of electronic and opto-electronic components, subsystems, and systems for the space and launch environments
  • Performs evaluation of contractor spacecraft and launch vehicle electrical systems and equipment designs, including requirement allocation and flow down, electrical system trade studies, application of electrical systems engineering principles and design processes, and technical coordination among engineering disciplines
  • Provides technical evaluation support to system program offices for conceptual design assessment, proposal evaluation, design evaluation and verification, and launch operations
  • Applies diverse expertise across the corporation to define integrated solutions to customer problems
  • Engages in frequent in-depth interactions with customer and contractor personnel
  • Participates in interagency teams in addressing and resolving systems engineering issues related to space electronics
  • Develops clear and concise written reports and presentations to management, peers, program offices, and customers
  • May be required to travel within and outside of the Los Angeles area to customer and contractor sites as needed
  • Perform assessments of electrical and electronic requirements definition and system designs to identify potential problems and issues and to evaluate risks to successful implementation for NSS and other space programs
  • Ensure that electrical and electronic systems meet all mission performance and reliability requirements
  • Provide space vehicle test and integration process/products assessment to ensure proper verification and validation of requirements
  • Perform independent Mission Assurance assessments of electronic systems for NSS and other space and launch programs to identify potential problems and issues and to evaluate risks to successful implementation

Qualifications

Required
  • Degree from an accredited university in electrical engineering, physics, or a related field with a working knowledge of electrical and electronic circuit fundamentals
  • At least 2 years of experience applying engineering skills and best practices to the resolution of complex problems in electrical and electronic systems
  • Proven ability to provide independent evaluations and application of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications
  • Proven ability to lead and/or contribute to the efforts of multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative and customer interface skills
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance issued by the US Government - ship is required to obtain a clearance

Preferred
  • At least 2 yrs experience working with space programs in resolving problems related to electrical systems
  • Additional coursework or an advanced degree in electrical engineering, physics, or another related field

Required for consideration as a Senior Member of Technical Staff
  • High aptitude for leadership and ability to mentor more junior engineers while leading and/or contributing to the efforts of multi-disciplinary teams
  • At least 5 years of experience applying engineering skills and best practices to the resolution of complex problems in electrical and electronic systems
  • Broad experience in space systems engineering, procurement, integration and test
  • Degree from an accredited university in electrical engineering, physics, or a related field with a working knowledge of electrical and electronic circuit fundamentals
  • Proven ability to provide independent evaluations and application of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications
  • Knowledge of the aerospace industry and its contractors and subcontractors
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative and customer interface skills
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance issued by the US Government - ship is required to obtain a clearance Knowledge of the aerospace industry and its contractors and subcontractors
Preferred for Sr. Member of Technical Staff
  • At least 3 yrs experience working with space programs in resolving problems related to electrical systems is preferred
  • Additional coursework or an advanced degree in electrical engineering, physics, or another related field
