This is an exciting opportunity in the Information Technology Infrastructure service area. The Enterprise Information Technology Engineer will be a lead engineer in the Infrastructure and Customer Support team. The ideal candidate must be able to provide support for IT Infrastructure and services, including Active Directory, Servers and desktop virtualization and mobile client devices. As an Enterprise Information Technology Engineer, you will need to have strong technical leadership skills, be able to work well with both technical and non-technical staff, and have excellent communication skills. In this position, you will need to be able to own, manage, and complete projects from beginning to end in a timely fashion and must be able to work in a dynamic environment with a mixture of operational tasks and project assignments.
The ideal candidate will possess the following competencies, as demonstrated in past and current employment history. Desirable competencies for this position include:
Analytical Thinking - Approaching a problem or situation by using a logical, systematic, sequential approach.
Communication Skills - Effectively conveys information and expresses thoughts and facts clearly, orally and in writing; demonstrates effective use of listening skills; displays openness to other people’s ideas and thoughts.
Problem Solving - Approaches a situation or problem by defining the problem or issue; determines the significance of problem; collects information; uses logic and intuition to arrive at decisions or solutions to problems that achieve the desired outcome.
Teamwork & Interpersonal Skills - Develops effective relationships with co-workers and supervisors by helping others accomplish tasks and using collaboration and conflict resolution skills.
Acceptable Substitutions: Two (2) years of related experience may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the education requirement

Employment Eligibility: Federal law requires all employees to provide verification of their eligibility to work in this country. Please be informed that the City of San Jose will not prepare or file a labor condition application with the Dept. of Labor.
The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience. In addition to the starting salary, employees in the EITE I and EITE II classifications shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.
