The ideal candidate should have a foundation in PMBOK based Project Management and have experience managing multiple projects of varying complexity. This candidate should be energized by working in a developing Enterprise level Project Management Office that is at the forefront of organizational development and initiatives. The Project Manager in this role will be responsible for leading cross functional projects through the project lifecycle within scope, schedule and budget. The successful candidate must be able to learn and understand the business, influence technical and business leaders, act as a trusted advisor and build credibility quickly. Successful candidates should also demonstrate leadership and flexibility, as well as the ability to establish rapport across the organization.

Project Management tasks and responsibilities

  • Successfully lead projects leveraging PMBOK based Project Management methodology and practice
  • Know how to bring teams together around a shared goal through Project Management Practice

  • Develop Scope, Vision, and Success Metrics with Project Team and Sponsors; help clarify project ambiguity through project rigor
  • Manage projects through the Project Management Lifecycle, leverage templates and tools and follow standardized processes and approaches
  • Develop project schedules with clear milestones and tasks to achieve project success and drive project to success using the schedule; have an understanding of critical path and what the logical sequence of steps are to reach Project Success and Close
  • Move iteratively through project phases working with a wide variety of cross functional teams with varying styles
  • Drive teams forward through all phases of the project; keep team focused on what is in and out of scope
  • Manage projects and programs of varying complexity with teams of varying sizes; have the ability to develop a strategy at a high level as well as lead teams to execute on a more tactical level
  • Know when to escalate project risk; be able and willing to communicate early and often and ask for help when needed; balance this with the ability to identify mitigation strategies and recommendations from the team
  • Be comfortable delegating items to Project Team members and driving items to resolution
  • Establish and define Roles & Responsibilities with the team, use these roles & responsibilities matrices to keep the team engaged
  • Be an expert presenter comfortable in front of audiences of varying levels and sizes
  • Be an expert communicator and facilitator; be adept at developing agendas that allow teams to focus and have productive meetings; drive to a point
  • Be incredibly comfortable with collaboration; enjoy working with teams; find ways to promote and leverage strengths of the team to create a healthy team dynamic; celebrate team wins and successes and find ways to bring teams together through points of contention

Required skills, abilities, and certifications

  • 7+ years experience in Project and Program Management
  • Expertise in PMBOK based Project Management Methodology and Practice
  • Experience working in an Enterprise or cross functional Project Management Office
  • Demonstrated ability managing multiple projects and/or Programs
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to a changing environment
  • Ability to communicate articulately with varying groups at different levels across the organization

Recommended skills, abilities, and certifications

  • Project Management training or certification is preferred
  • Experience using Google Suite
  • Experience using Smartsheet
  • Knowledge of Change Management is desired
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or Process Improvement is desired
  • Knowledge of Agile framework and relationship with Project Management is helpful
  • Special consideration will be given to candidates with the trajectory to grow beyond this role.
