Job Description

VariQ is searching for a dynamic Finance Manager to join our team. In this position, a successful candidate will report directly to the CFO and be responsible for three primary roles encompassing the areas of Accounting (oversight), FP&A and Business Development (pricing). In the FP&A role, the Finance Manager will be responsible for budgeting, forecasts, financial reporting, and all aspects of financial analysis at the program and portfolio level. He or she will support the Business Development (BD) process by completing pricing for proposals under contract types including T&M, FFP and CPFF. Additionally, the Finance Manager will oversee and be responsible for the timely completion of accounting activities related to payroll, timesheets, A/P processing, A/R collections, compliance, expense reporting, and audit support in a fast-paced government contracting environment. * Ensure critical accounting activities are completed in adherence with existing company and customer timeframes

* Supervise, mentor and provide ongoing training to accounting personnel

* Provide financial support to program managers, portfolio leads and department heads in the areas of program financial status, hiring and cost rate needs, and program performance

* Conduct monthly and ad hoc financial assessments and generate reports to be submitted to program and portfolio managers and senior management

* Perform ad hoc analysis for programs, especially as related to hiring and cost rate decisions

* Perform end of year review of budgets and support annual budget process and creation

* Coordinate with business development to complete pricing volumes for proposals, including corresponding with teammates

* Monitor program funding and communicate issues and recommendations to managers as needed

* Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement, and take the initiative to implement or support to any green-light process improvement efforts to completion

* Create and update process documents and company manuals as needed

* Support financial statement audit requests and other annual activities such as compliance audits, incurred cost submissions, and agency specific audits


* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field

* 5-8 years of direct experience in the field

* Strong analytical skills

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Deadline and closure oriented

* Excellent research and data collection skills

* Attention to detail and advanced organization skills

* Experience working in a collaborative environment, effective at interacting with a wide range of personnel

* Ability to work flexible hours as needed for proposal preparation

* Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint, etc.)


* Familiarity with the Government Contracting industry

* Experience with Unanet

* Strong interest and knowledge of technology, experience with MS Power BI and advanced Excel skills desired

* Quick learner and adapter who enjoys challenges and appreciates a faster-paced team that strives to become more efficient and innovative by constantly learning new skills

* Knowledge or experience of DCAA and incurred cost submissions

* Extensive accounting knowledge including familiarity with general ledger accounting, PPE, depreciation, journal entries, bank reconciliation, account variance, etc.

* Familiarity with T&M, FFP, and CPFF contract types
