Job Description
Our client, a growing provider of a variety of marine services, seeks a GM to lead their Subsea Fiber & Cable group. They will have P&L responsibility, manage administration, operations, and business development, develop business vision and strategy, be involved in acquisitions and advise on investments. Additionally, the role will be instrumental in the implementation and adoption of HSE policies and standards and will report directly to the president.
Duties include:
- Promotion of safety and zero incident operations
- Drives strategy for the divisions, including growth planning
- Manages financial aspects of the division, including CAPEX and OPEX budgets, develops astute plans for projects and capital investments, oversees project cost tracking and daily project reports, and project reviews
- Utilizes KPI's to guide decision-making
- Responsible for Safety and Environmental Management plans
- Responsible for Subsea business development and relations
- Oversees RFP process, including survey data, cost estimates, scheduling, etc.
- Leads the preparation of client presentations and contract negotiations
- Develops operation plans for laying of fiber as well as functioning as the Construction Manager
- Supervises and trains crew during project operations
Skill & Experience:
- Strong dedication to work site and operational safety
- Good background in subsea or marine construction, particularly around laying fiber or cable in depths of 100 to 600 meters
- 10+ years managing projects in subsea construction or vessel operations, good industry acumen and business understanding, ability to think and plan strategically
- Strong familiarity with Dynamic Positioning, high current power and communication cable layment, ROV and commercial diving
- Read and understand construction drawings, cable specification documents and provide take off for materials
- Organized, detail-oriented, customer focused, and relational; strong communication and leadership skills
- Solid understanding of contracts and commercial terms
- Prior background in working with unions
- Proficient in MS Office, knowledge of Microsoft Projects and Gantt Charts
- DPO certification is a plus
