Head End Technician (Two Openings)

Technical headend experience in balancing a headend, Working with Video, audio, CMTS equipment, Troubleshooting/problem solving skills, Good knowledge of Headend and Hubs, Coax, Ethernet and Fiber handling experience, Understanding of Hub design and rack elevations, High School diploma or equivalent
Contract W2, 5 Months
Depends on Experience
Travel required to 75%.

Job Description

Please note that this is a 5 months contract position.

Will supervise and mentor others in the process of racking electronic equipment in cabinets. Responsible for (but not limited to) the installation, cabling and troubleshooting of multiple Headend/Hub network devices. Able to organize, terminate, test and label coaxial and Ethernet cabling as needed. Must be able to read and create Hub Design and rack elevations and conduct others to execute the designs. Will assist in migrations from old devices to new devices during nighttime maintenance windows. Will perform pre-launch testing of equipment as needed. Must possess the ability to self-manage. Must be able to mentor and direct others. Must be able to understand and execute Statements of Work, perform quality assurance audits and communicate work performance and status. Will work closely with the Market Lead, Deployment Manager and Project Manager.

Required skills and experience:
•Technical headend experience in balancing a headend
•Working with Video, audio
•CMTS equipment
•Inside skill level
•4 or more years of related work experience
•Good computer skills
•Good communications skills
•Troubleshooting/problem solving skills
•Able to lift 50 lbs occasionally lifting as needed
•Must provide own required tools
•Organized, self-motivated, ability to problem solve
•Attention to details
•Ability to manage and mentor others
•Good knowledge of Headend and Hubs
•able to travel extensively

Work duties to be performed:
•Rack headend equipment
•Install associated coaxial and Ethernet cables
•Connectorized coaxial and Ethernet cables
•Test coaxial and Ethernet cables
•Clean, test and install fiber jumpers
•Label coaxial, Ethernet cables and fiber jumpers
•Read and understand hub design and rack elevations
•Self-manage time • Managing hub crews
•Mentor and direct others

Preferred Skills :
•Coax, Ethernet and Fiber handling experience
•Good computer skills
•Good communications skills
•Troubleshooting/problem solving skills
•Understanding of Hub design and rack elevations
•Experience working with engineers, project managers
•Experience managing personnel

Education:
•High School diploma or equivalent
