VM Engineer ( Support)
Location : San Carlos, CA
Duration : 6 Months +

Provide IT Mid-Level Support. This includes but is not limited to:
Install, configure, administer and maintain Windows server and desktop systems, VMware infrastructure components, and associated data center hardware and software infrastructure.
Ensure that all servers, desktop and laptops conform to standard system configurations, and that all appropriate documentation, system images are up to date and ensure initiation of system backups and verification.
Apply security patches and updates to improve server efficiency, reliability, and security.
Work with internal stakeholders on existing IT systems, upgrades, and integrations.
Strong analytical skills.

Job Description:
Requires hands-on experience with Windows OS environments, VMWare and Nutanix software.
Knowledge and experience with MS Office Suite.
Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and GPO.
Maintains and manages Data Center infrastructure including administration of Windows servers, physical and virtual desktop environment and backup system.
Provides second level troubleshooting and support as triaged by the Help Desk to the staff supporting this work directive.
Ability to identify problems and perform root cause analysis to ensure problem is resolved and document the resolution for less senior staff.


The job involves carrying boxes up to 50 lbs and occasional driving of the District vehicles to various remote locations thus requires attending the Defensive Driving class offered by the District.
Working hours are equivalent to a 40-hour workweek. These working hours also include being part of the IT Department on call rotation as well as supporting monthly system maintenance on a rotational basis.
Support to North Base, South Base, Brewster, CEMOF and Menlo Park.
Primary work location is Central at San Carlos, CA.

The support personnel shall work closely with and report directly to District Project Manager.

Off shift and Off-site requirements:
Support hours: Monday-Friday (8am to 5pm) but some off-hours support will occasionally be required to handle staff request and schedule conflicts.
