Job Description

ASSYST is seeking an experienced Human-Centered Design Specialist to support our Federal Government Program in Baltimore, MD, The Design Specialist will engage with end-users using Human-Centered Design techniques. This will include user research, design, prototype, and implement new service experiences using agile methodology. The Design specialist will apply the principle of Human-Centered Desing methodologies to include requirement gathering and understand the end user’s needs and experience, understanding of organizational behaviors, pain points, and vision.

Responsibilities:

  • Use Human-Centered Desing techniques to understand the end user’s needs and experience, understanding of organizational behaviors, pain points, and vision.
  • Research, design, and prototype, and implement new service experiences using agile methodology 
  • Design thinking and service design to ideate and develop prototypes, using key elements that include co-creation sessions/ideation sessions with users and stakeholders
  • Using a research plan, provide Human-Centered Desing tasks, such as formative research, such as focus group discussions with users, individual in-depth interviews (IDIs), direct observation, contextual inquiry, technical expert panel with stakeholders

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years Industry experience with Human-Centered Design or Human-Experience Design
  • Thorough understanding of Human-Centered Design principles including eliciting and understanding user needs, gathering user feedback, and prototyping, and building workflows aligned to user needs.
  • Experience leading design phase sessions for gathering requirements, writing user stories, guiding a team through data collection, analyzing results, providing input and recommendations, and developing a road map workflow process. 
  • Must have strong communications skills 
  • Good experience in performing user research
