Can you check with the candidate if he does have above mentioned experience? State want someone who will be working in Warehouse most of the time. There wont be any desktop support work, mostly warehouse/asset management work. If candidate has good experience in what State need, then I can ask State to conduct an interview.
Job Description: The department regularly replaces equipment (computers, printers, servers, desk phones, cell phones, routers, switches, etc.) and has with collecting hardware, sanitizing hardware, preparing for disposition, and coordinating the pick-up/delivery of old assets. This includes removing hard drives, completing destruction steps (documentation, crushing, degaussing), moving equipment to pallets, shrink wrapping, etc. The resources will be responsible for working with the department to coordinate the shipping/receipt of new equipment, maintaining a log of asset information, and providing reports as needed.

Job Description

Description: IT Asset Mgmt resources needed to assist OTHS IT asset management responsibilities. The department regularly replaces equipment (computers, printers, servers, desk phones, cell phones, routers, switches, etc.) and has with collecting hardware, sanitizing hardware, preparing for disposition, and coordinating the pick-up/delivery of old assets. This includes removing hard drives, completing destruction steps (documentation, crushing, degaussing), moving equipment to pallets, shrink wrapping, etc. The resources will be responsible for working with the department to coordinate the shipping/receipt of new equipment, maintaining a log of asset information, and providing reports as needed.

Duties:

  • Regularly lift and move objects 10-50 lbs.
  • Assemble/Disassemble IT equipment to remove/replace key components (memory, hard-drive, etc)
  • Complete hardware sanitization and destruction tasks in accordance with federal standards using existing electronic destruction equipment (i.e. hard drive degausser, hard drive crusher, hard drive shredder)
  • Prepare, track, and complete equipment disposal and Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) activities which includes but is not limited to documentation, contacting vendors, coordinating shipping/receipt in accordance with established processes
  • Organize, monitor, and track IT equipment warehouse activities to ensure the addition/removal of IT equipment is documented using Remedy and Spreadsheets
  • Report on all hardware asset data including warranties and maintenance.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inventory assessments/audits
  • Enter data into Remedy, Spreadsheets, documents, and forms as needed.
  • Manually attach DHS barcodes to equipment; create asset in repository; and maintain records as assets are moved.
  • Receive IT equipment requests from IT personnel; prepare equipment for pickup and/or shipping; track delivery/pickup status; document completion/receipt
  • Relocate equipment to/from end-user workspaces
  • Work independently and manage workload at a high rate of speed
  • Primary work location is the DHS Headquarters (Saratoga State Center - Baltimore, MD). Will be required to travel to other locations throughout the state for meetings and/or site inspections.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in IT asset inventory in a professional environment
  • A High School degree or GED is required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience in information technology and possess basic computer skills including how to use email and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc).
  • Position requires considerable physical activity. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
    • Ability to use and operate tools including a pallet jack, hand cart, dolly, common hand tools (i.e screwdriver, wrench, wire cutters, etc.)
    • Must be able to work in a dusty environment with varying temperatures
    • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend, lift, and stoop.
  • Ability to follow instructions, policies, and guidelines
  • Must have own transportation
  • Professional attire is required (no jeans, t-shirts, or sneakers)
  • Must be courteous, professional, and able to provide excellent customer service
  • Must have a basic understanding of the asset management process and experience implementing effective asset accountability practices and measures
