Job Description

The American Urological Association (AUA), the premier urologic association providing support to the urologic community, is currently searching for an effective and organized candidate for our IT Project Coordinator in the Information Systems department providing project coordination and work with IT Governance.

 

In General

This position provides hands on project management to meet product owner and sponsor requirements along with schedule and budget constraints. The candidate should be familiar with both waterfall and agile frameworks and be able to serve as a Project Manager and a Scrum Master respectively. The candidate must be able to lead projects with confidence and experience, managing projects according to a “PMI-lite” methodology and/or by the standard Scrum processes. This requires the ability to hold people accountable and having the mindset of a servant leader. The position works closely with the Director, Projects & IT Governance and utilizes established and maturing processes.

Typically

The individual in this position will:

  • Initiate, plan, and execute projects
  • Facilitate requirements gathering and documentation
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables
  • Define tasks and required resources
  • Create schedules and project timelines in cooperation with stakeholders and team
  • Secure and allocate project resources in cooperation with management, stakeholders and team
  • Secure and manage project budget
  • Support the project team, product owner(s), and sponsors
  • Use an online PPM to manage projects (we currently use Clarizen)
  • Track milestones and deliverables
  • Implement and manage change when necessary to meet project requirements and constraints
  • Help build testing scripts
  • Lead testing and quality assurance
  • Monitor and control the project and report on project progress
  • Present to sponsors and other stakeholders on progress, forecasts, risks and issues
  • Evaluate and report on project results and actual business value achieved; identify opportunities for improvement
  • Run projects in both Waterfall and Scrum; fully understand both and when to use which

 

To be Successful

Candidates must be able to provide superior service delivery while working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. It is essential that the individual in this role have strong organizational, database and communication skills. In addition:

 

  • Knowledge of waterfall and Scrum/agile frameworks required
  • 3 – 5 years of Project Management and/or Scrum Master experience required
  • PMP or Scrum Master Certification required
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Masters preferred) in a relevant field of study
  • Ability to create dependency-based schedules in Microsoft Project and/or similar PM tools
  • Ability to produce standard project documentation and Scrum artifacts
