Clover Consulting has an immediate need for an experienced Infrastructure Construction Engineer / Project Manager for our direct client located in Greenville, SC.  This is a 6 month contract position with strong potential for extension.  Requirement details are listed below.  Qualified candidates should respond to this posting.  No phone calls please.


Title:  Infrastructure Construction Engineer @ Proterra

Location:  Greenville, SC (onsite)

Length:  6 months + w/ option to extend



  • Must be able to and willing to work on a scissor lift as some equipment is located above at around 20 ft – will have safety harness and hard hat (we’ll provide safety training, safety gear and safety certifications)
  • Facility is open air, there’s some AC but majority is open air
  • During HM Phone interview there will be a network skills test/question, it should take the candidate ~10-15 mins to answer, manager is looking at how the candidate gets to the answer

    • Wireline telecommunications services such as point-to-point, IP transit, fiber optic transport
    • Data center engineering project experience with an emphasis on mission critical project management

Infrastructure Construction Engineer


The Infrastructure Construction Engineer drives design, defines budget, procurement, deployment, and standardization of clients’ corporate office networks, data center operations and micro data center operations.  This position plays a central role to the construction and buildout of existing and any future plant expansions.  The ICE will have responsibility to build relationships and processes while ensuring success during planning, design, construction and handover phases of data center builds, factory plant construction or expansions. A successful candidate will help develop and understand requirements from internal customers and create solutions to improve productivity and services. A candidate must have a technical as well as a project/program management background, be innovative and agile, collaborate well in a team environment.  The primary responsibility will be to participate in the design, engineering and fulfill on any new or existing Information Technology Infrastructure construction, expansion or refresh projects. This position reports directly to the Director of Engineering.


  • Drive outstanding quality in server rooms and data centers to achieve highest reliability and uptime within infrastructure.  The IC Engineer will be passionate about quality, engineering, and design continuous improvements.


  • Collaborate with product owners and technical leads to identify and collect requirements for our next-generation data centers, office expansions, factory lines and new and refreshing existing server rooms.


  • Work with technical teams to develop a global design standards document, global installation best practice guidelines and product specifications for our MEP data center design; develop QA process manuals and control amendments and revisions, develop audit strategies, and define quality and operational metrics that measure success.


  • Investigate failures, identify root cause, and work to drive corrective actions with multi-functional infrastructure engineering teams


  • Responsible for developing a Life Cycle Asset Management (LCAM) process throughout the entire life cycle of new data center infrastructure assets.


  • Knowledge of fiber optic components, cabling, interconnect products, technologies, and standards


  • Construction experience such as site walks, punch lists, field coordination, RFIs, clash detection, lessons learned feedback loops, etc.


  • Participates in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans.  Be able to read technical drawing such as blueprints, work with CAD programs and have an extensive knowledge in commercial space planning.   Your work will include reading and editing drawings for submittal packages.


  • Must have extensive experience with local regulatory compliance, understanding of ADA, fire life safety and building codes


  • Extensive knowledge in equipment planning processes related to Information Technology rooms with the ability to direct and monitor equipment planning activities and assure effective coordination with design processes.


  • Knowledge of project delivery methods and tools to develop conceptual IDF, MDF Data Center designs and opinions of probable project costs, project schedules, and agency impact analysis.


  • Must have participated in commercial property builds such as a data center, head end, central office, or multi story high rise construction builds.


  • Performs Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and risk assessments for major equipment and systems, along with risk mitigation and response strategies


  • Examine all submittals (in particular MEP submittals) for quality assurance and provide comments to ensure all documents are compliant.


  • Must possess the ability to calculate compute BTU’s and solve for mechanical solutions to insure the uptime and reliability of our computer environments


  • Will be responsible for onboarding and establishing recurring maintenance and support contracts for high voltage UPS systems, CRAC units, split systems, FM 200, fire suppression and respond to data center or server room issues.


  • Applies design for reliability principles like Critical to Reliability Parameters, fault tolerance, fault detection, etc. to ensure inherent reliability using systems such as N+1 engineering into all aspects of infrastructure design and implementation.


  • Experience with low voltage cabling in a data center or high-density campus environment


  • Experience with wireline telecommunications services such as point-to-point, IP transit, fiber optic transport such as 1gb, 10gb, epls, mpls and SD-WAN technologies.


  • Demonstrated knowledge of campus networking philosophies, routing and switching protocols




  • Data center engineering project experience with an emphasis on mission critical project management.
  • PMP accreditation or 5+ years of project management will be accepted
  • BICSI accreditation - RCDD/DCDC certification.
  • Experience with tooling & automation, Building Management Services / Software
  • Trade Licenses a plus such as electrical, computer A+, Network +, Security+, networking background a plus.



  • B.S. degree
  • 5+ years experience in project or program management
  • 4+ years experience in data center construction or operations
  • 4+ years experience with network deployments and circuit provisioning
  • 4+ years experience with campus and enterprise networks and hardware
