The IT Departments Project Management Unit ensures that IT programs and projects meet organization goals and requirements, develops and implements PMU processes, guidelines and benchmarks, directs project management staff, and works with other departments to define, prioritize, and develop projects and programs. It also supports collaborative steering committees in their area of specialty to build consensus and support implementation of decisions.
As part of the PMU, the contractual Portfolio - Project Manager will provide direct support and guidance to individual project managers as well as assist in overseeing, analyzing, and reporting on the status and health of the total project portfolio on behalf of the CIO and IT governance groups. S/he will assist with budget formulation for the portfolio, providing analysis, reporting, and support for IT governance in their decisions regarding project approval and budget allocation. The PMU uses the CA Clarity Project Portfolio Management (PPM) system as its main project and portfolio management tool where s/he will be one of the system owners to operate and provide support to users. S/he will also provide support to users of MS Project for IT capital projects. As part of maintaining PMU's project management standards, s/he will work with the team to perform project quality checks and stage gate reviews.
Minimum of two years of experience as a member of a project/portfolio management office;
Minimum of two years of experience in developing/implementing project management standards and methods, managing project resources, portfolio management, project performance measurement, communication planning, and training/mentoring staff in project management skills;
Three or more years experience in project managing the deployment of IT projects
Demonstrated knowledge of the full business/IT project lifecycle, and an understanding of business process redesign and technology trends and developments;
Expert with MS project (required);
Experience in using the CA Clarity project/portfolio management tool is a plus;
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Must have experience in practice management aspect of managing complex technical projects and programs including the use of agile project management techniques.
Exposed to portfolio management concepts, methodologies and best practices.
Experience in business process re-engineering and streamlining
Proficient in documenting processes, flow charts and policies related to project, program and portfolio management areas.
Knowledge of performance measurement concepts and application
