SAIC is seeking an Instrument Systems Lead Engineer on the OMES II contract in support of the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) program at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The position is located in Greenbelt, MD.
The Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) next-generation operational Earth observation program that acquires and distributes global environmental data primarily from multiple polar-orbiting satellites. The program plays a critical role to NOAA's mission to understand and predict changes in weather, climate, oceans and coasts, and the space environment, which support the Nation's economy and protect lives and property.
Oversight of Instrument Design Coordinate Instrument integration and testing ensuring costs, risks and schedules align Collection and synthesis of objective technical information relevant to the current instrument development phase Identification, mitigation, and resolution of technical risks and/or issues impacting instrument development Organization and prioritization of Project technical resources to effectively address multiple issues in a given time frame Identification and advocacy to project and program management of best practices to achieve mission success Qualifications
-Bachelors Degree and 18+ years of related experience; Masters Degree and 16 years or more experience.
-Must be able to pass a Government background investigation.
-12 years of applicable direct experience with earth-observing instrument flight hardware is required
-Satellite Instrument Design, Integration and Test Experience
-Experience with NASA flight system development practices and approaches is required Desired Qualifications
-Proven ability to organize teams and coordinate work across multiple areas simultaneously.
