What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking an Intern - Combustion Research Facility Science Undergrad Laboratory Intern (SULI) R&D Fellowship Undergraduate Summer

We are seeking undergraduate student interns for a 10-week full-time internship for Summer 2018, through the Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) Program. Depending on the project assignment and qualifications, the intern will be responsible for setting up and running lab experiments, creating software programs to analyze data, or developing computational models and algorithms. Depending on the intern's skill set, the intern will work closely with a mentor on assignments related to gas-phase chemistry, diagnostic development, reacting flow research, engine research, or numerical methods.

These internships are intended for undergraduate students in STEM majors to assist on projects related to internal combustion engines, soot formation, solar thermal materials, chemical kinetics, molecular dynamics and spectroscopy, laser diagnostics, mathematical and computational tools for uncertainty quantification, and stochastic modeling, in association with the Combustion Research Facility in Livermore, California.

Qualifications We Require

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

* Currently attending and enrolled full time(or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited undergraduate program
* Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
* Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
* Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
* Receiving financial support through a fellowship or educational institute program
*
U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident

Security Clearance

This position does not currently require a Department of Energy (DOE)-granted security clearance.

Sandia will conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record checks, and employment and education verifications. Further, employees in New Mexico must pass a U.S. Air Force background screen for access to the work site.
