Application Architect Contract period - 6+ months extendable up to 24 months. Systems Architect 6 with strong technical knowledge and communication skills.
Participates in the design and development of business and system architecture. Responsible for working with highly complex architectural impact projects and directing implementation of the architecture for a single or multiple applications or system components. Conduct complex technology and system assessments for component architecture and participate in enterprise architecture activity. Prepare target architecture and roadmap to implement the target architecture. Provides technical and systems consultation to internal clients and technical management to ensure alignment with Enterprise Architecture. Studies interfaces with different applications and suggests integration technologies.
Acts as a technical expert on the design and development of highly complex, large-scale internet, intranet and backend applications on Unix/Linux/Windows platform, crossing multiple business lines. Uses expert knowledge of web technologies, including Java and/or .NET, messaging applications, database modeling tools and/or database interactions. Does researching and tracking of new technologies for developing applications. Able to learn new technologies on the job. Recommends integration technology to be used for different interfaces.
Domain knowledge: Knowledge of financial/banking industry in applications related to core banking, payments is must. Preference will be given if the candidate has worked on any vendor product which provides core banking and payments functionality.
Technical Knowledge - Java and/or .NET web technology, Messaging technology (Solace, MQ, NoMQ, etc), SOA/web services and microservices
Documentation Skills – System Architecture documents, architecture and design diagrams, UML diagrams, Visio, Power point
Years of experience – 10+ years of IT systems design and planning experience, including 7+ years in architecture and 4+ years of Capital Markets experience.
BS degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related area of focus; hands-on experience with one or more trading application portfolios (OMS, EMS, Clearing, Market Data, Analytics); architect level experience working with trading environment applications and protocols (i.e. Calypso, Flextrade, Bloomberg, Thompson Reuters, FIX); expertise in Low Latency and Ultra Low Latency platforms and development practices; understanding of the competitive landscape, business trends, and working knowledge of global financial markets, exchanges, etc.; extensive technical skills and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of an entire line of business or infrastructure sub-domain; knowledge of architecture standards and methodologies (i.e. Gartner, TOGAF, Zachman); exposure to Grid Computing; exposure to Microservices, Cloud Computing, and Dev Ops; understand security pricing
