Are you a mid-level software craftsman (Java and AWS Lambda comfort preferred) yearning to work on a modern consumer facing product? Do you love being surrounded by other "elite" coders who build software "the right way?"
CIO Resources -- a boutique practitioner led staffing firm -- has a unique opportunity for a mid-level Java Developer to join an established "startup" culture within a publicly traded company.
This company is committed to retooling the way software is developed and believes in a small, talented team vs. a larger team of "good but not elite" developers -- and they are committed to compensating the right talent with the right communication and collaborative skills and commitment to quality code. They are deeply Agile and while most work at HQ daily they have a mature, established modern development environment that relies on Slack, Git and productivity more than metrics and watching over your shoulder.
In short, you will be on a team of elite level developers using agile and continuous integration to leverage a modern development stack (Java 8, Spring 4, RabbitMQ, Docker, AWS native application services, Angular, etc.) to migrate their "legacy" .NET application functionality onto their modern platform.
This is a great opportunity to work on something interesting on a longer-than-six month contract along with the potential to extend or convert to an employee after about a year (no guarantees but this company finds a way to retain good talent). Talent ideally will be based in Chantilly, VA or Burlington, MA but the possibility exists for talent remotely in AZ, CA, CO, GA, IL, MD, MN, MT, NC, NM, OR, PA, RI, TN, VT or WV.
This may be a great opportunity for you if ... you have strong experience shipping daily quality code, get along well with others and have a passion for being lean and nimble and would enjoy working on "a big thing." You likely are active in the Open Source community, are a Linux head and have a strong public GitHub/StackExchange presence.
We should chat with you about other opportunities if ... you aren't current in your development skillset (Java 7+/Spring 3 preferred but other Lambda stacks are also cool), you don't possess a deep understanding of software engineering and craftsmanship or you aren't comfortable in a relatively fast paced, daily build (automated test) Agile environment.
