Job Description

Solidus is searching for a Java Software Developer to join a group that develops, builds, tests, and operates laser communications systems for a variety of applications and environments. The successful candidate will design, develop, code, test and debug software.

Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship and able to obtain DoD Security Clearance; active Secret preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics, or related field with experience relevant to optical communications testing; Master's degree preferred

Required Experience
- Solid programming experience with parallel processing in Matlab and Java
- Data analysis experience and ability to take a data set and determine how to analyze, organize, and present data
- Must have strong documentation and writing skills
- Good communication skills -willingness to listen to the needs of engineers and the ability to articulate solutions to engineers in other disciplines who possess little understanding of embedded software systems
- Interact with users to gather requirements, design and implement graphical user interfaces, write user guides, and train users in the use of code
- Willing to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment

Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in:
- Matlab and Data Analysis
- Software/Algorithm Development
- Java Development
- Object Oriented Software Design and Development
- Software Design/Development
- Hardware and Software Integration

Minimum of 4 years' experience in:
- Software Documentation
- JavaScript Development
- Software Architecture
- Multithreaded and Multiprocessor Applications

Preferred Skills:
- Prior experience with Photonics and/or Laser Comm
- Experience with NoSQL databases
- Working knowledge of C++ and a background in mathematics
- Elasticsearch
- Algorithm Development
- GIT/GITHUB
- SQL
- Experience with SVN
