Job Summary:

 

As a Web Developer, you’ll be working in a collaborative team of developers on diverse projects. This position supports the Agile development and delivery of mission-critical, web-based streaming video systems used throughout military, intelligence and commercial industries.

 

To be successful, candidates must be proficient with:

 

    • Designing user interfaces and customer experiences for web-based applications using JavaScript frameworks, libraries and best practices

    • Designing and implementing navigation flows, page layouts, color schemes, and graphic elements to attract users’ attention and solve complex problems

      This position works closely with Product Owner and Scrum Master to gather user requirements and expectations and validate concepts through iterative prototypes and usability testing. Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science or a related graphic design discipline. Candidates must meet eligibility requirements to obtain a U.S. Government clearance.

       

      ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may be required to perform additional job duties):

       

    • Lead visual design of projects from functional requirements and wireframe concepts through to implementation of web solutions

    • Design products following coding standards and in accordance with Agile development methodology, tools and release processes

    • Collaborate with a cross-functional team including developers, testers, marketing, product management and customers to create new solutions, facilitate feedback and achieve design decisions

    • Ensure consistency of application appearances using style guides and help enforce established standards and best practices

    • Ensure design elements, templates and solutions work for a variety of browser types and screen settings

    • Estimate level of effort during sprint planning, evaluate open source options of similar technologies, and offer suggestions

    • Perform software testing

    • Apply and maintain quality standards

    • Participate in design or peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions  

    • Assess severity of problems, determine corrective action, resolve technical problems, and implement solutions

    • Engage in continuous self-improvement of technical skills and improvements in programming techniques and toolsets

    • Recommend value added changes to existing coding practices, standards and tools

    • Show commitment to company values, ethics, safety, security, labor charging, and quality

       

      MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS (education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities):

      Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science or related graphic design discipline (four-year degree)

    • Candidates must meet eligibility requirements to obtain a U.S. Government clearance

       

      Experience/Skills

    • Expertise designing and developing web applications using JavaScript frameworks, libraries and build tools

    • Passion for UI/UX design, including wireframing, graphical compilations, and prototyping

    • Experience designing and developing responsive, interactive web applications using JavaScript frameworks (AngularJS, ReactJS), libraries and build tools

    • Familiarity with frontend web frameworks, such as Bootstrap

    • Experience leading design efforts using HTML, CSS, and JSON web services

    • Understanding of HTTP protocol and RESTful data structures

    • Skilled with design software, such as Photoshop or Illustrator

    • Strong understanding of Linux. Experience with CentOS, Red Hat, or Ubuntu a plus

    • Experience working with version control systems, preferably Git

    • Experience working on an Agile software development team

    • Ability to work closely with internal and external customers in analyzing software requirements​

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills to ensure internal clients and colleagues understand status of projects or tasking

    •  

      Added Plus:

    • Experience using JavaScript IDE, preferably WebStorm

    • Experience working with database technologies like PostgreSQL

    • Experience with video technologies including streaming web video: RTMP, HLS, MPEG-DASH, H.264 encoding
