Overview of position:

FEDITC is seeking a Junior Information Assurance Security Specialist (A&A) to work in the Fayetteville, NC area. The Junior IA Security Specialist will be responsible for performing assessment and authorization coordination, advising and assisting the customer with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and developing a Plan of Action and Milestones for resolving network deficiencies. The end goal is to ensure the integrity of customer systems by identifying and mitigating potential shortcomings and vulnerabilities. A United States Citizenship and an active Secret DoD Security Clearance is required to be considered for this position.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assess network compliance against controls listed in and creating A&A packages.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and build an accreditation roadmap for new networks and systems.
  • Develop and maintain supporting documentation for new networks, systems, and technologies as they are introduced.
  • Develop and review the A&A of networks, systems, services, devices, hardware, and software using the DoD and IC RMF to obtain an Authority to Operate, Interim Authority to Test, or Authority to Connect.
  • Provide DoD and IC RMF subject matter expertise, and assist with the development and execution of the RMF program.
  • Maintain, track, and validate DISN and DIA connection approval packages.
  • Perform risk and vulnerability assessments of IT and IS for accreditation; prepare risk assessment reports for submission to the Security Controls Assessor/Certification Authority and Authorizing Official/Designated Accrediting Authority.
  • Assist with the enforcement of A&A, as well as connection standards for networks and systems.
  • Track and maintain A&A databases, web sites and tools to ensure that networks, systems and devices are properly documented and managed from a security perspective.
  • Ensure timely notifications are made to responsible individuals and organizations in order to prevent lapses in accreditation's.
  • Coordinate with organizations to support the resolution of issues with security, A&A, connection approvals, and waiver requests.
  • Perform network security authorization, as well as the application and execution of policy, including project management support services.
  • Be able to perform security evaluations and vulnerability assessments using the DoD Assured Compliance Assessment Solution, Nessus vulnerability scanning tool.
  • Other support duties as needed/directed.

Experience/Skills:

  • Three (3) years of progressive, relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Working knowledge of the Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process and Risk Management Framework.
  • Knowledge and experience with DoD IA processes and policies.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of the Telos Xacta or eMASS system is desired.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer of Systems Science discipline

Certifications:

  • IAT II is required.

Clearance:

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance is required.
  • Must be a and pass a background check.
  • Maintain applicable security clearance(s) at the level required by the client and/or applicable certification(s) as requested by FEDITC and/or required by FEDITC’S Client(s)/Customer(s)/Prime contractor(s).
