Job Title:  Jr. Systems Administrator

Location: Manhattan, NY

Job Description:

The Jr. Systems Administrator will troubleshoot complex networking devices and application issues. As a top tier technical support resource, this individual will provide guidance, assistance, coordination and follow up on helpdesk questions, problems or incidents on all network & systems applications, hardware and software installed. The analyst will also be engaged in projects that will affect the day-to-day operations of ISP.

Responsibilities:

Under limited supervision respond to inquiries of incidents assigned to the Network Services team concerning backend systems issues and network connectivity

  • Provide level 1 support for all escalated help desk calls and open tickets
  • Provide timely resolutions and be OK with not knowing but learning!
  • Monitor all server, storage, and network infrastructure components using requisite tools
  • Responsible for patching server infrastructure systems, as well as updating other backend software components
  • Assist with backup management, including but not limited to monitoring backup jobs, rotating backup media, and troubleshooting related issues
  • Assist team with cabling and patching requests, including coordination with external vendors
  • Interfacing with external consultants/developers as well as network engineers on issues and proposed upgrades to existing applications
  • Document knowledge and act as a peer group leader to and train other support tiers.
  • Assist in monitoring and reviewing of Level 1 Support tickets

 

Qualifications:
 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an IT Help Desk servicing internal and external stakeholders
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent field is desired
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server Operating Systems
  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow ticketing system
  • TCP/IP, WAN knowledge, LAN knowledge
  •  Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communications skills (written/verbal)
  • Self-Motivated and able to work independently with little to no supervision
  • Able to interface with end-users, vendors, and other IT support groups
  • A structured approach to troubleshooting hardware and software problems
  • Experience with VMWare, Active Directory, Storage Area Networks, and Powershell scripting is a plus.
