Job Description

WHAT WE WANT

FriendFinder Networks is looking for an energetic Junior Developer that will be responsible for maintaining and expanding a suite of applications that provide visibility into the infrastructure health of systems spread across multiple datacenters around the world. Each day the core system processes over 100 million events while storing an additional 70 million datapoints. You will ensure the system is performing as expected while maintaining zero downtime across deployments, scheduled maintenances and data center moves. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and integrating other applications related to providing visibility into infrastructure health and incident management. During the normal workday you will maintain, develop, and integrate internal and third-party monitoring tools in a variety of technologies, respond to trouble tickets created by internal users and help troubleshoot infrastructure issues as they occur. Your contributions will ensure the best possible user experience for everyone who visits our web sites 24 hours a day, every day of the year, all over the world. This position requires a weekly rotation of on-call duty.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Ensure proper monitoring, alerting and reporting of the infrastructure health
  • Write and modify applications written in Perl, Javascript, HTML, Java, Go, Python, Scala
  • Maintain operation of monitoring application components that run on the following technologies: Apache Storm, Apache Kafka, ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, Hadoop, HBase, OpenTSDB, Kubernetes, Docker, Apache Spark, Spring Framework, React
  • Extend REST and GraphQL based API s
  • Work in real-time with Operations team to diagnose and recover from hardware or software failures

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • Junior level programming skills in at least 2 of the following (Perl, Java, Go, Javascript)
  • Ability to write simple MySQL queries
  • Some experience in building and integrating with REST API s
  • Passion for building highly scalable, highly available, highly secure, maintainable and low latency applications
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and immediately apply them in a production environment
  • Must be comfortable with adult content
  • Must be able to be on-call 24/7 more weeks than not
  • Must be at least 21 years old

WHAT IS PREFERABLE TO HAVE

  • Knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SNMP
  • Some Basic Linux administration experience
  • Experience with Spring Framework and Java build tools like Gradle or Maven
  • Kubernetes administration experience
  • Experience with React and GraphQL
  • Some knowledge of streaming technologies and event driven systems (Storm, Spark on Hadoop, Kafka)
  • Jira/Confluence Administration
  • Some basic UI development experience
  • Basic knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL and Postgres
  • Some knowledge of NoSQL databases such as HBase and ElasticSearch

WHAT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and drive small projects to completion
  • Team-player with flexibility and positive attitude
  • Ability to learn and improve programming skills and knowledge
