Position Summary:
The Lead-Principal Software Engineer on the Digital Evolution - Machine Learning team, you will:
  • Be responsible for building, deploying and maintaining large scale machine learning based systems,
  • Lead designs of major modeling components, algorithms, machine learning framework, systems and features
  • Partner with engineering teams to create optimal data pipeline architecture, develop effective data evaluation techniques and build optimal ML solutions using Big Data technologies,
  • Need to have proficiency in data integration, ETL, data modeling and have the ability to gather design and specification requirements,
  • Be proficient at detecting patterns or problems that could affect overall data and model integrity
  • Need to have the ability to think through alternatives, arrive at decisions quickly and follow through with execution to resolve issues at the source
  • Define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and measurements, monitor model drift and relevant model performance metrics,
  • Be monitoring progress, manage risk and ensure key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes, be staying abreast of current business and industry trends
  • Bachelors degree in Quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Econometrics etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years experience in analyzing business problems and translating business requirements into technology solutions that consider system performance, usability, quality, cross-system interdependencies and scalability
  • 7+ years quantitative experience, ideally in retail consumer / online retail environment
  • 7+ years of database experience (like SQL Server, Teradata, Oracle, Mongo DB, Cosmos DB etc,) and in using SQL queries and complex SQL procedures to transform and prepare the data for analytical and modeling purposes
  • In-depth understanding of the inner workings of machine learning algorithms (model settings, hyperparameter tuning etc.,) to get good model results
  • In-depth understanding of the mathematical concepts and techniques used in machine learning (linear algebra, statistics, probability theory, optimization, calculus, algorithms, etc. )
  • Strong applied analytics and problem solving skills
  • Experience working with large data-sets and predictive stack of modeling
  • Experience or desire to work in an agile development environment
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in programming languages like R, Python and/or Scala and building statistically sound machine learning models
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working with cloud-based services and systems (Azure, Databricks, Apache Spark, PySpark)
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience
  • Familiarity with business processes for Retail
  • Experience with operations research and optimization models
  • Familiarity with one or more deep learning frameworks like Tensorflow , Keras or Pytorch
