Job Description:

The Business Analyst is responsible for the analysis, documentation, communication and approval of functional/non-functional business requirements for software applications, 3rd party vendor packages, or infrastructure implementations. The Business Analyst operates as a liaison between the Ferguson business groups/departments and the Information technology department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:Ability to lead large complex projects in the areas of Master Data Management
  • Responsible for elicitation, analysis, and documentation of business requirements
  • Responsible for analyzing the business needs to identify new processes and process improvements that will meet those needs; inclusive of "soft" system factors including: roles, responsibilities, policy, culture, etc.
  • Analyze detailed system factors including input/output requirements, information and paper flow, hardware and software needs to ensure well a rounded and understood solution is achieved
  • Effective in a variety of formal/informal presentation settings: one-on-one, small and large group; to associates at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to set expectations with project business partners and recognize when issues/events may affect delivery
  • Facilitate appropriate conversations to gain approval and priority of proposed enhancement and business as usual work
  • Ability to represent the Solution Manager / Product Owner strategy and goals in their absence
  • Create business case documentation on behalf of the Solution Manager and/or the business stakeholders upon request
  • Research and exploration of user requirements, costs and benefits in support of documentation required for the demand management process
  • Participate in design, review and presentation of training and support content such as FAQ and Knowledge documentation
  • Plays a third level support role by helping to troubleshoot and resolve issues with production systemsWork with third-party software providers to ensure solutions meet the needs of Ferguson
  • Meet agreed upon deadlines and communicate or escalate in a timely manner when deadlines are at risk
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • In addition to the essential job duties identified, all associates will perform duties as requested by management


  • PRIOR EXPERIENCE: 6+ years of relevant IT industry work experience.
  • 6+ years of Business Analysis experience.


  • TECHNICAL SKILLS:Strong PC skills with specifics toward all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of Master Data, Business Intellegence reporting preferred.
  • Experience with SQL, Step, Azure Devops prefered.
  • Experience with data profiling
  • Posses general business or technical knowledge.
  • Ability to create process flows and diagrams.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interview skills, ability to talk to individuals and groups about their need and ask the right questions to surface essential requirements information.
  • Strong listening skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with all levels of associates.
  • Ability to work on simultaneous projects.
  • Receptive to some travel (education, project pilot, training, site visits, etc).
  • Open minded about alternative solutions, not constrained by the way processes have always worked within any particular company.
  • Facilitation/able to work with groups to get things done.
  • Must be experienced in the Software/System Development Life Cycle.
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive, creative and efficient.
  • Must be detail-oriented and thorough with the ability to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Must have a good understanding of both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
