Manager, Enterprise Storage Operations

Job Description:

 

  • Provide Senior SAN/NAS expertise and mentorship to the rest the Enterprise Storage team;
  • Install, configure, support and maintain storage area networks and associated technology including SAN Arrays, SAN Switches, and NAS Filers;
  • Perform System Administration tasks on UNIX, Windows, VMWARE, and Cloud based systems that utilize the Enterprise and Cloud storage solutions;
  • Manage existing Private, Hybrid, and Public Cloud Storage resources including Block, File, and Object level storage solutions;
  • Design, build, and test Enterprise Storage solutions including NAS, SAN, Object and Cloud storage solutions;
  • Plan, coordinate, manage and perform data and platform migrations between various vendor Enterprise Storage solutions;
  • Perform Project Management roles for projects under the Enterprise Storage service offering;
  • Review and approve Change Requests and represent them in the CAB meetings;
  • Review and assign Incident Tickets in the queue;
  • Monitor the team’s performance and adherence to SLA’s and other key metrics;
  • Manage, transform and provide user access to large datasets;
  • Document processes, procedures, upgrades and problems;
  • Upgrade firmware, software, and associated infrastructure to maintain latest supported and recommended versions;
  • Perform regular maintenance on all SAN and NAS infrastructure;
  • Monitor and analyze performance and evaluate trends and needs for additional capacity;
  • Analyze, review, and resolve incidents, problem tickets, and user requests within SLA;
  • Evaluate and recommend technical and architectural solutions;
  • Review and perform QA for incoming solutions for operational efficiency;
  • Perform feasibility analysis of new projects;
  • Perform proactive analysis of incident patterns to prevent outages;
  • Conduct operational readiness testing and review of all SAN/NAS infrastructure;
  • Supervise and assign work tasks to members of the Enterprise Storage Operations Team;
  • Perform Senior-level supervisory and administrative tasks for Enterprise Storage Operations Team infrastructure;
  • Supervise Team responsible for 24x7 operations in-house and cloud-based enterprise storage solutions including NAS and SAN solutions.

 

Administratively, the Manager-level responsibilities include:

  • Manage employee/consultant time schedules to ensure appropriate coverage;
  • Oversee timely delivery of provisioning requests;
  • Supervise the distribution of assignments in the work queue;
  • Manage incidents with the appropriate level of support;
  • Maintain quality service by following organizational standards;
  • Write and assign tasks and standards;
  • Process and sign-off on performance evaluations;
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies;
  • Ensure compliance with organizational standards; 
  • Review incidents and develop measures to prevent recurrences;
  • First responder to outage notifications;
  • Improve morale and reduce employee attrition;
  • Ensure employees are trained for assigned responsibilities and emerging technologies;
  • Ensure accurate asset and inventory management; and
  • Handle special projects as assigned.

 

 

Preferred skills:

  • 5+ years of prior experience inclusive of 2+ years of Team Lead experience in an enterprise-level, highly complex environment consisting of the below areas:
  • Storage array administration of, Pure Storage, Dell/EMC PowerMax and XtremIO arrays;
  • SAN switch administration of Brocade and Cisco MDS switches;
  • Administration of NAS Filers including NetApp and Isilon;
  • Linux, UNIX, Windows, and VMWARE operating systems system administration;
  • Cloud Storage solutions administration including in Azure and AWS environments.

 

 

Qualification Requirements: 

1.BA/BS including 24 credits in the field of voice and/or data telecommunications or related field and 4 years of related work experience where 18 months must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity.

2. An Associate’s degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 12 credits in the field and 5 years’ work experience as described in "1" above;

3. Education and/or experience equivalent.
