Job Description

The Marketing Software Engineering Manager will work closely with the AVP Digital Platform Engineering & Architecture to build a world class software engineering team supporting Marketing Web applications. Together, they will establish and cultivate a culture of development, continually identifying new ideas with an eye on improving the customer experience across all functional Digital Experience areas. The Software Engineering Manager will also serve as the web application implementation thought leader for digital solutions and work closely with technical leads, developers, quality assurance, and UI/UX to ensure technical delivery matches GMF goals and growth targets.


  • Lead, inspire and motivate a team of software development engineers end to deliver high quality maintainable code, integration and technical solutions in support of our strategic projects

  • Own and manage the delivery teams responsible for the technical aspects across our digital systems including front-end HTML/JS/CSS development, back end AEM development, other platforms as necessary, integration to API's and services, and adherence to UX/UI standards

  • Work collaboratively with the wider digital team and with stakeholders across the business, establishing best practice technical standards for digital delivery within GMF while driving efficiencies in delivery

  • Size and estimate development efforts Define and manage development build plans

  • Take projects from concepts to completion and support project management

  • Review, analyze and modify existing programming as necessary; prioritize and respond to requests concerning existing online content and programs; evaluate system performance and utilization

  • Establish and maintain development standards and control measures for application source code

  • Provide management reporting on all aspects of business systems and application development, including building KPIs and associated dashboards for executive and inter-departmental review

  • Review, analyze and recommend system features and solutions

  • Report organizational status to senior executives

  • Updates job knowledge by researching new internet/intranet technologies and software products; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations

  • Ensure that all deliveries have a clear customer focus and understand the needs of internal and external customers

  • Respond promptly to change requests and project variance while ensuring the customer is at the forefront of the responses

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Conform with all company policies and procedures


AVP Digital Platform Engineering & Architecture


  • Extensive working knowledge of HTML/HTL, CSS/LESS/SASS, JavaScript/TypeScript, Bootstrap/Foundation, and Grunt/Gulp build tools

  • Knowledge of various web server environments and operating systems including Linux, Apache, Shell Scripting

  • Knowledge of software development cycle and tools, including git source code version management, CI and deployment (Jenkins)

  • Strong background with UX and UI development tenants such as user centered design (UCD), Accessibility, UI Performance, Responsive Web Development (RWD) and Multi-Channel delivery

  • Development experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and the suite of products in the Adobe Marketing Cloud (AMC) as well as other digital solutions

  • Development experience with Single Page Application Frameworks (Angular, React, Vue, etc)


  • Keen eye to preserve integrity of the design throughout the entire development process

  • Ability to communicate, manage and report on core features of managed people and projects

  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot and solve technical issues as needed

  • Deep understanding of latest best practice code delivery, testing and deployment for front and backend development


  • Bachelor's Degree required


  • 4-year Engineering, Computer Science, or similar degree or comparable experience required
