Job Description





Solidus is searching for a Systems Engineer to provide engineering support to various systems engineering activities consistent with the development, modernization, releasability and sustainment of the Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) on behalf of numerous operational customers and conducted within an Agile (Scrum) environment. JMPS is used today by Air Force and Navy aviation mission planners.

\nWorking closely with the Government customer, the Systems Engineer will be expected to:

\n-Provide day-to-day systems engineering oversight of JMPS development efforts on behalf of the Government customer.

\n-Serve as an engineer who can clearly translate client requirements into Mission Threads, Use Cases, requirements packages, user stories and detailed acceptance criteria as applicable.

\n-Serve as an Agile Product Owner representing the client/end user to the development team through ownership of the product vision, ongoing support, and clear communication.

\n-Prioritize product backlog items for sprints and releases.

\n-Provide technical review & analysis support to ensure software commonality & interoperability between Mission Planning components.

\n-Assist domain experts and other systems engineers in developing JMPS technical requirements; perform technical review & analysis of requirements.

\n-Understand and leverage an Enterprise Product approach to identify 1) requirements that represent a gap in capabilities across the Enterprise, and 2) opportunities for reuse throughout the Enterprise.

\n-Create Technical Requirements Documents, Statements of Work, Contract Data Requirements Lists and other documentation in support of new Mission Planning Delivery Orders.

\n-Interface directly with JMPS software developers to convey technical requirements, and verify traceability of high-level component requirements to component Software Requirement Specifications (SRS), and/or user stories. Manage requirements traceability via available tools (e.g., DOORS).

\n-Evaluate technical proposals and other technical data items, to include high-level architectures, requirements documents, designs, test plans/reports, and process descriptions.

\n-Confirm the necessary linkages exist among requirements, design and test verification documents/ procedures. Document/report findings & recommendations to the Government.

\n-Represent the Government customer in formal technical reviews (requirements, design, test, etc.) consistent with systems engineering plans and standards.

\n-Create meaningful entry/exit criteria for all technical reviews, and advocate for appropriate review artifacts, activities, documentation and stakeholder participation. Document/report readiness to proceed.

\n-Analyze software development technical metrics, report results and recommend corrective actions.

\n-Monitor & report technical variances; facilitate resolution of technical issues that adversely impact successful product delivery. Report the status of product development to the Government customer on a consistent basis.

\n-Manage external component dependencies; participate in Deficiency Review Boards.

\n-Maintain currency of software component baseline data on behalf of the Government.

\n-Support process maturity assessments and other process improvement activities.

\n-Support the Government risk management process through identification, analysis, mitigation and tracking of risks applicable to the assigned components.

\n-Ensure all approved Mission Planning technical processes are applied for each component.

\n-Interface directly with both Government and developer representatives. Establish and maintain close working relationships with both. \n\n

\nRequirements:

\n- Active Secret Clearance, which requires US Citizenship

\n- Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline

\n- 8 12 years of prior relevant experience including aviation mission planning a functional levels (unit, wing, Ops Center)

\n- Requires strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with customer representatives, domain experts and systems engineers in the development of complex software systems

\n

\nDesired Skills:

\n- Advanced degree (engineering, computer science or related technical discipline preferred.

\n- General familiarization of U.S. DoD system development and acquisition processes.

\n- Familiarity with the Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS)

\n- Knowledge of MS Windows and Virtual Machine environments and use

\n- Knowledge of software and systems engineering development processes

\n- Knowledge of software verification and validation procedures

\n- Familiarization with Geographic Intelligence (GEOINT) data

\n- Thorough knowledge of systems engineering and risk management concepts and applying these concepts to large, software-intensive systems.

\n- Agile development knowledge (with at least Scrum as one discipline).

\n- Experience in Systems Engineering support to product development.

\n- Familiarization with Mission Planning and/or Command & Control systems.

\n- Experience with formal software engineering processes, in an organization employing Capability Maturity Model (CMM) at Level 3 or higher.

\n- Experience with C-5, C-17, KC-10, KC-135, and C-130J aircrafts.

\n- Experience with B-1, B-2, F-15, F-16, A-10 and F-22 aircrafts.

\n
