The NCIS team is searching for a Network Administrator to join their program in Quantico, VA.The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) is an organization of approximately 2,000 personnel of which 700 serve at HQ and the remaining staff serve at offices worldwide. NCIS is the DON component with primary responsibility for criminal investigation, law enforcement (LE), counter-terrorism (CT), counterintelligence (CI), and cyber matters. NCIS not only has primary responsibility for all criminal investigative, CI, CT, and cyber matters within the DON, but it also has exclusive investigative jurisdiction in non-combat matters involving actual, potential, or suspected criminal, terrorism, sabotage, espionage, and subversive activities. NCIS provides the DON with threat status and warnings associated with terrorist, criminal, cyber, and counterintelligence activity throughout the world. NCIS is the only DON organization that has the information and responsibility to fuse and analyze the national intelligence and law enforcement information necessary to provide these warnings.

Responsibilities:




This position is part of the Office of Technical Services division within the Global Operations Directorate and performs the following functions:
  • Develops baseline images for PCs, servers utilizing VMware, Hyper-V, Unix and Windows
  • Responsible for general security and operation of Tech Services core systems
  • Implements off-site data replication
  • Collaborate with NCIS ITD for migrations and system reporting
  • Manage user accounts for applications
  • Research and provide SME input on equipment and networking for operations
  • Supervises and participates in complex operating systems planning, implementation, and production support activities
  • Interfaces with contractor, vendor and Government personnel, confers with equipment and software vendors to take appropriate courses of action
  • Responsible for writing, editing, and preparing graphical presentations of technical information
  • Supports operating system changes required for the transition of new applications into the datacenter
  • Applies security standards and performs mitigation
  • Responsible for applying/mitigating system security and implementing/performing data integrity policies and system recovery mechanisms
  • Implements and manages system redundancy/fail-over
  • Tests and analyzes all elements of network facilities
  • Monitors and controls the performance and status of network resources on multiple enclaves utilizing software and hardware tools
  • Identifies and diagnoses problems and factors affecting network performance
  • Analyzes network performance, usage, traffic flows, access, and interfaces

Qualifications:




Years of Experience: Minimum 7 years in network/systems administrationRequired Education: Bachelors (May be substituted for additional years of experience)
  • Experience in the following is required:
    • Broad experience with virtualized environments, managing SANs/NAS devices, email services, desktop services, and a variety of technologies supporting computing capabilities
    • Demonstrated ability to provide an outstanding customer service experience in a variety of circumstances across all organizational levels
    • Experience in EMC VNXe, Cisco routers & switching, Cisco ASA Firewall/VPN Concentrators and Small Business L2/L3 switching is highly desired
    • Experience with WAN networks, supporting multiple sites with VPN connectivity
    • Knowledge of C&A compliance and reporting is preferred
    • Occasional travel may be required; < 20%
  • Requirescurrent DoD 8570 IAT Level III certification (CISA, GCIH, GCED, CISSP [or Associate], or CASP CE) and MCSE certification
  • Fully adjudicated active Top Secret is required to start; must be eligible to obtain TS/SCI-level adjudication
