Solidus is searching for a Navigation Systems Engineer to support the United States Air Force (USAF) role in evaluating civil airspace compliance with domestic and international navigation requirements.
•Produce navigation-specific performance assessments of USAF aircraft platforms using performance matrices based on civil airspace access requirements
•Update generic performance matrices in response to revisions of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA), and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) documents.
•Meet with platform program offices to tailor matrices, increase their understanding of the navigation requirements, and determine methods of testing
•Assist USAF Major Commands (MAJCOMs) in determining the operational impacts of navigation noncompliance
•Meet with avionics vendors to understand their current product line and to express military needs in terms of future requirements
•Ensure compliance with all requirements in the Technical Requirements Document (TRD), defined in the Request For Proposal (RFP), for Navigation equipment listed in the CNS/ATM catalog
•Candidate must have an active security clearance
•Bachelor's degree and 7 years of experience on DoD or Air Force acquisition process and military avionics requirement development.
•Experience with technologies and applications associated with civil and/or military navigation systems, flight management and control systems, network control and performance test/analysis/evaluation.
•Experience with aircraft navigation and navigation safety avionics.
•Familiarity with FAA and ICAO Standards is highly desired.
•Demonstrated ability to work effectively on a team and to lead and direct the work of others.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Proficient in MS Office Suite
