The IT Support Technician is responsible for the day-to-day and operational support for office and plant functions.  Reporting directly to the HSS IT Local Manager, based in the US, the individual will also be responsible for carrying out IT initiative projects defined by the Head Office.





  • Configuration, installation and full support of equipment in an environment Microsoft Windows,

  including computers, printers, smartphones, and peripherals.

. Ability to work as “smart hands” assisting with Servers and other IT related equipment.

  • Solve problems with computer hardware, software, whether in the office or the

  shop floor.

  • Maintain software applications, operating systems and perform regular preventive maintenance

  of hardware and software.

  • Responsibly manage assigned projects and deliver services in accordance with established goals.

  Work with other project teams to complete larger projects.

  • Provide attentive and competent support in response to requests from colleagues at all levels of

  the organization. Communicate competently with administrators, service providers, on-site staff

  and external vendors.

  • Be an advanced and knowledgeable problem solver, able to resolve issues when notified by a user

  or an automated monitoring system.

  • Support and resolve all problems encountered with hardware and software. Forward requests to

  the appropriate party, if necessary. Replace or repair defective parts and equipment.

  • Monitor and validate backups of on-site systems.
  • Ensure organizational security by working with business teams when threats are identified and by

  isolating computers from the network.

  • Be able to work closely and effectively with colleagues on site and remotely and with teams.
  • Understand software and hardware lifecycles and be able to prepare in advance for upgrades and

  updates to ensure smooth transitions.

  • An understanding that in a crisis, it may be necessary to be flexible in your schedule to meet the

  needs of the business including off-hours support as needed




  • DEC / AES (College Degree) in Computer Science
  • Essential experience of 1 to 3 years as an IT Technician for a large company
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills both in French and English
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows workstations, antivirus and

  Microsoft Office applications

  • Use of an Enterprise ticketing system (ServiceNow) a plus
  • A working knowledge of servers, SAP, and VMware a plus





  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Organizational skills: knows how to set priorities, be energetic and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage priorities
  • Ability to work with a remote team as well as independently
  • Interpersonal skills: demonstrate good listening skills, build close relationships, be

  flexible and open-minded

  • Judgment skills: identifies problems, systematically gather information, addresses the

  root cause of problems and seeks consensus as much as possible.





Three weeks of vacation in 2021 (our vacation period is from January 1 – Dec 31).


A must:   the individual needs to be bilingual (written & spoken)


Despite the COVID, the individual can work from home from time to time, however, he/she will need to be on the site as well due to several computers connected directly to our shop floor machines.


We are currently on the Work Share Program;   office employees are working 36h/w the remaining 4h are being paid by the Employment (Service Canada).  We will be on this program for the rest of the year; probably.  Some weeks, depending on operational needs, the employee may work 40h.
