Network Administrator Job Description
Responsibilities for Network Administrator;
• Install, configure, troubleshoot, test, operate, maintain, and manage wired and wireless networks including hardware (e.g., switches, multiplexers, routers, cables, protected distribution systems), physical infrastructure and software that permit the sharing and transmission of all spectrum transmissions of information to support the security of information and information systems
• Expand or modify network infrastructure to serve new purposes or improve workflow. This includes all layer 1 cable plant infrastructure such as inside plant, outside plant, Category 5/6 copper cables, fiber optics cables, and use of cable test equipment (e.g. copper trace toners, butt sets, OTDR, etc.) IAW EIA/TIA, IEEE, and BICSI standards.
• Install and maintain network infrastructure device operating system software (e.g., IOS, firmware, etc.) and network device configuration, optimization, patching, securing and associated drawings and diagrams.
• Maintain network core, distribution switching, and edge switching availability and functionality and associated drawings and diagrams.
• Troubleshoot and repair system outages/down/unavailability/etc. to maintain compliance with applicable Service Levels.
• Communicate status of outages (e.g., network down notifications, status reports on expected restoration, network up notifications).
• Perform all routine and periodic checks and validations, in accordance with applicable requirements and processes
• Develop and implement network backup and recovery procedures. Validate network device configurations backups are being satisfactorily completed per policy and configuration.
• Process service tickets as they relate to the proper and efficient operation of applicable systems, to maintain applicable Service Levels.
• Manage network device configurations
• Maintain auditable records of system and configuration changes that describe, in detail sufficient to facilitate the reproduction and/or reversal of the changes. These records provide traceability and accountability for all system changes
• Ensure systems are secured per applicable Security Technical Implementation Guides; ensure cyber security system reporting is accurate and up-to-date (e.g., ACAS, VRAM, STIG); ensure vulnerabilities, as identified in security scans (e.g., ACAS), are addressed (i.e., remediated, mitigated) in accordance with Cyber Security requirements and timeframes.
• Support data collection and information aggregation in support of required requests from internal organizations and external agencies (i.e., data calls).
• Develop, generate, maintain, and contribute to documentation (e.g., procedures, instructions) that pertain to and are applicable to managed systems.
• Communicate, collaborate, and participate with audits, auditors, and other program reviewers to facilitate compliance and resolution of issues
• Provide support and applicable data/information to facilitate emergency response plan testing and execution (e.g., COOP, Contingency Plan, backup and recovery, network disconnect procedures).
• Coordinate any planned service interruptions/outages with Government leadership seven or more calendar days prior to the event
• Draft weekly/monthly reports on activities


Qualifications;


• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance commensurate with the position
• CCNA
• Security + certification
• Must be fully vaccinated
