Job Description

Location:  Kanab, Utah (or within driving distance of Kanab, Utah)

Responsible for engineering, architecture and the daily management of Network Infrastructure, Cloud Network Infrastructure, including Regional offices, VPN and Data Center connectivity. Responsible for upgrades and design of complex network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, Fiber Optic, Ethernet and Wireless infrastructures and Network security. Network engineer works on projects as assigned, to integrate new systems into, as well as update, design and enhance, the existing network infrastructure.

Network Engineering

  • Responsible for LAN/WAN engineering, Route/Switch Engineering and configuration, network design architecture and maintenance of complex network infrastructure including routers, switches,  wireless access points, firewalls, cloud networking, VPN and other network hardware. 
  • Analyzes problems and recommends the best solutions or corrective actions. 
  • Develops and maintains accurate network documentation.
  • Assists with coordination of network upgrades and overall network architecture
  • Assists with network design and participates in the engineering and architecture for data and voice infrastructure. 
  • Leads engineering, planning and coordination of all network upgrades and design implementations. 
  • Installs and configures network hardware, supports fiber infrastructure and data center cabling and related hardware. 
  • Orders, stores, and tracks quantities of essential and frequently used hardware and equipment. 

Network Security Engineering

  • Responsible for leading and implementing solutions for VPN technologies, both site to site and client secure access. 
  • Leads projects related to firewall implementation, upgrade, and maintenance including access control. 
  • Track and troubleshoot network vulnerabilities and apply fixes. Monitor DNS applications, stateful and Next Generation Firewall policies. 
  • Responsible for network access control and implementing network device hardening polices.

Cloud Infrastructure Engineering

  • Assist System and Cloud Engineers in AWS cloud networking, cloud firewall solutions including VPN technologies, and network security group policies. 
  • Implement network cloud assets and assist in software installation, maintenance, and upgrades. Assist to maintain and build VPC’s, HA architecture, ELB, WAF, transit gateway etc.

System and Cloud Engineering

  • Assists with Cloud Engineering and Architecture activities in coordinating and scheduling the installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems software, database management systems, applications, and application development environments
  •  Responsible for maintain secure network environment for applications and servers system.

Fiber Optic/Data Infrastructure Engineering

  • Responsible for leading fiber optic splicing design, and architecture - including continuity testing, OTDR trace analysis and optical power meter data of fiber optic cables. 
  • Installs, maintains, repairs, and relocates, data communication copper and fiber-optic cables and equipment. 
  • Maintain current and accurate records of cable usage, location, and troubles. Assists with testing of fiber optic patch cords and other network equipment and cabling. 
  • Assists with ordering of supplies used for telecommunication and fiber optic work.

Project Management

  • Assist in coordination of projects between technical and non-technical staff and organizational departments.  
  • Analyze business data support needs and propose solutions. Plan and manage the technical implementation of necessary technical solutions. 

Skills & Experience

  • Cisco CCNA, CCNP Certification a plus or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • 3-4+ years’ experience in Data/Voice Networking and Infrastructure network solutions with Strong IP routing and networking protocol experience.
  • Experience with Virtualization technologies – VMware a plus. 
  • Fiber Optic cabling experience is a plus. 
  • Experience with Enterprise Network hardware, with Cisco experience a plus. 
  • Knowledge of Firewalls such as Cisco ASA and related Security Architectures
  • Experience designing and implementing Wi-Fi infrastructure and Wireless security designs.
