Job Description

DLH is currently seeking a Network Engineer to support our Department of Defense client within the US Army’s Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) located in Ft. Detrick, MD. Maryland. The Network Engineer will support the installation, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of agency wide-area networks (WANs) and local-area networks (LANs).  Support includes the configuration and maintenance of network and equipment for MRDC’s organizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support, configure, engineer, and maintain firewalls and wireless network systems. Palo Alto is the primary technology / firewall.  Aruba is the wireless controller.
  • Configure and maintain outside DNS server, Active Directory/Domain Controllers, Spam Filters, Internal File Servers, Web Proxy, and Intrusion Detection System.
  • Configure and maintain network group policies and the security requirements of the routers, firewall, and layer 3 switches on the infrastructure backbone to meet the security requirements.
  • Maintain all CISCO routers and switches to the latest appropriate IOS for the mission of the organization and ensure proper operation of each system and the infrastructure as a whole.
  • Set up and maintain or delete VLANs for proper network traffic separation on backbone and ensure that all packets go through the router and firewall Access Control Lists (ACL) for filtering and logging.
  • Collaborate with other IT Support Specialists on integration and implementation of new STIGS/system requirements.
  • Be able to configure systems to capture packet traces and analyze using Wireshark.
  • Access and read Juniper Switch configurations for troubleshooting MEDCOI network across Base.
  • Support Alternate site subnets and equipment.
  • Configure CISCO VTC systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education, Certifications and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or work experience substitute.
  • Secret Clearance and/or ability to receive a Secret Clearance.
  • Working knowledge desirable in various software systems and architectures, communications protocols, network hardware devices and data center tasks.
  • Security + certification or ability to obtain certification quickly. 

Security Clearance:

Existing Secret DoD Security Clearance Level or ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
