Job Description

Network Specialist / Administrator

 

Description:

6+ months. Remote possibililties.


Responsibilities:


  • Support, and lead when appropriate, the planning, implementation, improvement, modification, and replacement of network infrastructure components
  • Collaborate with IT management, project manager, IT Team Lead, and/or business leaders to implement network activities within defined timeframes
  • Perform research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts
  • Identify, recommend, and remedy network performance issues as required
  • Perform network infrastructure security baseline configurations, vulnerability scans, and forensics
  • Monitor and analyze network performance of WANs, LANs, and wireless networks
  • Install and configure network equipment, including but not limited to routers, firewalls, switches, cabling, wireless access points, and UPSs
  • Support network penetration testing
  • Actively monitor systems and networks for potential intrusions using established tools and notify management of any breaches or concerns
  • Support and maintain security risk assessments and notify management of security
  • Monitor and analyze network performance including capacity planning to identify, recommend, and remedy current and future performance bottlenecks
  • vulnerabilities, recommend security controls, document findings, and implement remediation plans
  • Enforce all security policies, standards & practices
  • Participate in incident response plans to detect, respond to, and recover from security incidents
  • Other duties as assigned


Skills & Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in related field and/or at least 7 years equivalent work experience
  • Cisco CCNA and CompTIA Security +
  • Broad experience with Cisco technology administration
  • In depth experience with Fortinet technology administration
  • Extensive experience in network procedural document creation
  • Experience designing and delivering employee security awareness training
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to present complex network and security issues to a variety of audiences
  • GIAC Certification and/or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer: Security a plus
