Job Description





This highly visible role will report to the Operations Manager and work closely with the IT Leadership team and IT Division leads as the Manager of Network services.  The Network Service Manager is responsible for delivering and managing CLIENT’S Network service end-to-end.  This includes establishing service objectives aligned to CLIENT’S business outcomes and strategies, establishing and monitoring performance metrics to deliver these objectives, managing total delivered cost and identifying and mitigating risk. The manager is also responsible for ongoing process improvement. This position will be critical to the success of IT and our portfolio of companies, playing a key role as the company continues its aggressive growth in the industry, as well as playing a key role in CLIENT’s move to cloud services.


Principal Accountabilities: (base responsibilities – Add job specifics)

  1. Works directly with senior IT and business leads to develop service strategies and objectives aligned with CLIENT’S business outcomes and strategies.
  2. Maintain the Service Portfolio and Catalogue, ensuring that all information is updated, accurate and provides a clear understanding to how the service is performing.
  3. Propose, develop and implement Network architecture and solutions to meet current and future business objectives.
  4. Work directly with 3rd party network managed service providers coordinating support efforts, managing issues, and proactively addressing service deficiencies.
  5. Define and report upon actionable metrics, KPIs, SLAs, data and insights to meet and improve network service performance.
  6. Conduct periodic service reviews with the IT Leadership Team.
  7. Manage and optimize service costs. Manages the cost of implementing and running the service, tracks and manages usage, and captures performance metrics and impact on business outcomes.
  8. Understand and manage service risks.
  9. Manage vendor performance & contract service levels.
  10. Responsible for managing and coaching others as direct or matrix reports.
  11. Develop direct reports and perform regular performance reviews.
  12. Responsible for coordinating, planning, and leading IT related activities within the organization.
  13. Creates an effective work environment by developing a common vision, setting clear objectives, expecting teamwork, recognizing outstanding performance, and maintaining open communications.
  14. Must be a leader and a manager, with the knowledge and experience to "get things done.”
  15. Leverages technical knowledge and industry trends in order to provide ongoing process improvement and develop business opportunities.
  16. Develop and maintain technology-based capability roadmaps.
  17. Maintain an active awareness of company’s business environments, corporate culture, and structure to support key decision-making.
  18. Deep and substantial configuration experience with routing and switching devices (Cisco / Meraki)
  • Hardware: Meraki, Palo Alto, Cisco ISR’s, ASR’s, Nexus 5K, 6K & 9K Series, ASA, WAN Optimization.
  • Protocols: TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, DMVPN, SSLVPN, BGP, SNMP, MPLS, Multicast, QoS, and IPSEC.
  1. Infrastructure: LAN, WAN, VLAN, SD-WAN, and WLAN.
  2. Intimate knowledge of the Meraki platform.
  3. Comprehensive hands on experience deploying and troubleshooting Network Infrastructure
  4. Relevant experience with network management tools, SNMP and utilities (Solarwinds or similar)
  5. Experience deploying and managing Firewalls (Cisco, Palo Alto Networks) and troubleshooting VPN tunnels (IPSec and GRE)
  6. Experience managing and maintaining network security (hardware & software).
  7. Experience with VoIP (SIP & RTP) solutions a big plus
  8. Network Management & Monitoring: Solarwinds a plus.
  9. Experience with Application/Network Load Balancing technologies
  10. Experience in data center and enterprise networks and excellent knowledge and understanding of OSI Layer 1-4.
  11. Excellent computer skills necessary in Visio, PowerPoint Presentation, O365 and Teams
  12. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  13. Detail-oriented, well-organized self-starter
  14. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to apply them towards the investigation of existing installations.
  15. Experience managing a small group of Network Engineers.
  16. Experience managing 3rd party vendors.
  17. Experience managing 300+ locations across the United States
  18. Experience networking within a multi-cloud environment.
  19. Experience with SD-WAN, Wi-Fi 6 is a big plus.
  20. Some travel as needed.

  1.  Required education – Degree in IT Management, other related field or equivalent experience
  2.     Required experience – Minimum 3 years management experience or equivalent on Network teams
  3. CCNA/CCNP, CMNA, CMNP, CCIE, Solarwinds certifications a big plus
  4. Comptia Network+ certification a big plus.
  5. Familiarity with a broad range of IT technologies (Azure, Oracle Cloud, ADP, Descartes, BisTrack)
  6. Strong analytical and process management skills
  7. Excellent written and verbal skills.
  8. Familiarity with 3rd party cloud and SaaS-based environments
  9. Ability to thrive in a highly matrix, fast-paced, fast-changing environment that is experiencing rapid growth.
  10. Strong business acumen to understand business requirements
  11. Strong attention to detail and documentation with ability to analyze information and develop a comprehensive work plan
  12. Excellent presentation and interpersonal skill, including written and oral communication
  13. Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  14. Strong time management, organizational and priority setting skills
  15. Knowledge of and experience in developing and documenting IT architecture and plans, including strategic, tactical and project plans
  16. Ability to support multiple efforts in parallel, in a highly matrix, fast-paced, multi-site organization experiencing rapid growth
  17. Provides leadership by exhibiting influence and expertise.
  18. Ability to lead and work with remote teams across time zones and geographies.
  19. Although a remote WFH position, some work will be performed in office settings and there may be exposure to manufacturing, showroom or warehousing environments.
  20. Some travel likely to CLIENT’S locations along with business-related meetings & conferences.
  21. Physical demands include lift up to 25 lbs. on a random basis, standing, walking or sitting for extended periods of time, and bending or stooping
  1. Weekend / off-hour work if issues, projects or assignments necessitate network management.
