We are currently searching for an Online Content Specialist to provide support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is a permanent, full-time position with MSC and it is on-site in Bethesda, Maryland.

 

General Qualifications

  • MinimumEducationRequirement:Bachelor’sdegree.

  • Twoyears’experienceinpublishingorlibraryscienceenvironment.

  • Familiaritywithonlinepublications,specificallyelectronicjournalsorbooks.

  • Positiveattitude;displaysflexibilityandpatienceinahigh-volumeworkenvironment.

  • Comfortablemanagingmultipleprojectsatonce.

 

Required Skills

  • Abilitytocommunicatetechnicalandnon-technicalinformationeffectivelytopublishers,developers,anddataproviders.

  • Abilitytoconductdataanalysisandworkwithdeveloperstoimplementsolutions.

  • Abilitytoworkwithcomplex,detailedinformation.

  • KnowledgeofXMLand/orHTML.

  • Excellentverbalandwrittencommunicationskills.

  • Excellentorganizationalskills.

  • Atleastoneitemfromthe“DesiredSkills”list.

  • Experiencemanagingproductionworkflowofanonlinepublication.

  • Expertisewithelectronicimageformats(TIFF,GIF,JPEG,EPS,PNG)andwithimagecreationsoftware(forexample,AdobePhotoshop).

  • Experienceeditingjournalorbookcontentorinjournalorbookproduction.

  • ExperiencewithUNIX/Linuxinadataproductionenvironment.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • ProcesscontentandloadtodatabaseusingwebbasedtoolsandUNIXscripts.

  • Checkaccuracyandintegrityofsourcedataandonlinepresentationofcontent.

  • Conductdataanalysisandtroubleshooterrors;coordinatewithappropriatepersonneltosolveprogrammingandcontent-relatedissues.

  • Trackincomingcontentandtheprogressofworkonmultipleprojectsindevelopmentorproductionstages.

  • Answerhelpdeskqueriesfromusers.

  • Serveasaliaisonbetweenauthors,publishers,and/orvendorsandtheNLM.
