Job Description

Modis IT is seeking a Operations Support / Data Center Analyst in Cleveland, Ohio. The desired candidate will have previous experience operating, and supporting a data center.

Shift is Wed, Thurs, Fri, and Sat from 3:30 PM 1:30AM.

  • Proactively monitor process integrity of networks and systems to which he/she is assigned.
  • Identify and isolate system and/or performance problems and track trends.
  • Analyze application problems identified in error logs and assist with resolution.
  • Develop break-fix solutions for production application software and escalate as necessary.
  • Performs required work outside of normal working hours as deemed necessary to meet the Firm s objectives.
  • Responsible for independently maintaining and upgrading skills through ongoing training, education, Firm sponsored educational events, self study, and collaboration with peers.
  • Research and acquire knowledge/skills of networking, software applications, and the systems used by the legal and/or support staff.
  • Assist with problem determination/testing/resolution.
  • Provide off-hours support as scheduled or requested by TSS Support (DC/NOC) Supervisor.
  • Participate in initial project planning discussions.
  • Review and provide input into system requirements, design, security, hardware; and documentation.
  • Obtain and/or develop documentation as assigned.
  • Assist when requested in application development, quality assurance testing, and deployment for new or existing processes.
  • Perform requirements analysis and documentation for new database maintenance script development as assigned.
  • Perform table design, definition of table space requirements and development of indexing strategies as assigned.
  • Assist with application integration as requested.
  • Provide IIS administrative assistance.
  • Assist as required in setting up applications in new offices.
  • Assist with application upgrades and/or patches.
  • Assist with server side upgrades as required.

  • Basic understanding of network infrastructures, operating systemsm and application architectures required.
  • Experience working on Servers in a Windows environment.
  • Experience on HP Operations Manager, HP Network Node Manager, SolarWinds, Orion or other equivalent monitoring system platforms.
  • Ability to install and uninstall applications, read and understand events and system logs, and know where to find information on services, processes hosted on the server.
  • General knowledge on SAN and NAS storage platforms (ie. EMC).
  • Knowledge on DHCP, DNS and Active Directory services.
  • Working knowledge on network architecture and operations. Understanding of layer 2 and layer 3 network services. Knowledge on router, switch and firewall setup and configuration is beneficial.
  • Experience in application testing, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
  • Familiarity with relational database management systems and concepts.
  • Must be able to complete projects and assignments outside normal business hours as deemed necessary to meet the Firm s objectives.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of vmware vSphere.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of mobile platforms (Blackberry/iPhone/Android).

  • Working knowledge of software development life cycles.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and with developers, as well as independently.
  • Basic understanding of configuration and change management preferred.
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills to work with users and management at all levels.
  • Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear and succinct written communication skills.
  • Strong interest in delivering quality products to Jones Day customers is essential.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, Citrix, and relational databases

  • Four year college degree in Computer Science, Information Technology and/or equivalent working experience.
  • Any Cisco experience.
  • Any level of hands on router and switch install and configuration experience
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, 802.11
  • Domain Name Services (DNS) in a large-scale enterprise environment
  • 1 to 5 years of general Technology experience.
