Job Title: Ore Sample Prep Technician
Location: Copperton , UT
Duration: 6 months+Contract, long term
Pay range: $15-$18/hr DOE
Position is responsible for collecting, transporting and preparing mine hole samples. This work is critical to future expansions in terms of resource and waste evaluation and short term mine planning.
The data collected from the samples is critical for understanding and planning for the economic extraction of the resource.
The function of this role is to collect, transport and prepare mine hole samples. Requires the use of a drill auger for sample collection from drill patterns, repetitive lifting and stacking of 50 pound sample bags, and operation of a hammer mill and automated bench mill to pulverize samples. Take an active role in the safety culture.
Sample collection 30 %
Collecting samples from drill patterns using drill auger technique on uneven surfaces and adverse weather conditions.
Transport of samples from drill pattern to sample preparation facility and to central laboratory location.
Repetitive lifting and stacking of 50 pound sample bags.
Sample preparation 60%
Crushing 30 pound samples using a hammer mill.
Manual splitting of sample to reduce size.
Operating an automated batch mill to pulverize samples.
Prepare and run samples on in house lab equipment (NIR).
Implementing QA/QC procedures.
Clean equipment and work area to avoid potential contamination and dust accumulation.
Maintaining 5s standard for facilities.
Administrative responsibilities 10%
Communication of results
High school diploma or GED required.
Licenses/Certifications: Not required
A valid driver's license is required
Wearing of a half mask respirator unlikely but may be required
Need to be flexible on working hours. They are working rotating shifts & hours.
Work Week: Working a monthly rotating shift 5 days on/off & 4 days on/off
Hours: 5am 3pm & 5am 5pm 160 hours per month
