Title:  Enterprise Technical Solutions Architect - SOA/ ITA- Airline Industry

Responsibilities  : 

 

The Solutions Architect is responsible for ensuring that the company’s IT decisions as relating to the business applications within CLIENT are made with their impact on the entire organization kept firmly in mind. The Solutions Architect will support the conception, design, implementation, and on-going operations of the company’s business applications. The Solutions Architect will collaborate with business representatives to understand IT requirements generated by business strategies and operations, both short and long term.

 

The Solutions Architect will provide guidance to the company to proactively position its IT resources to meet these business objectives.

 

The Solutions Architect will contribute to the decision making process for all significant IT investments in the company.

 

 The Solutions Architect will support the definition of CLIENT’s Enterprise Technical Architecture (ETA) and champion its implementation and acceptance throughout the company.

 

Airline Industry IT knowledge in areas of airfare pricing for fare management and decision support systems such as SABRE AirVision, SITA Insight, GDS pricing experience, ITA/Google, etc. is required.

 

The impact of this key role is expected to be significant. The Solutions Architect will work to support the creation of systems that while meeting the needs of the business of CLIENT are also supportable in the long term by the operational areas of ITS, ultimately enabling the success of the overall enterprise.

 

Essential Functions/Accountabilities

 

  • Support the adoption and upkeep of the CLIENT Enterprise Technical Architecture (ETA) model. Supports and leads the effective implementation of the model with other related business and IT processes. Review solution proposals and designs to ensure appropriate implementation relative to the ETA and identify enhancements to the ETA as appropriate
  • Analyzes business change drivers to define a collection of integrated data, architecture and application solutions required to satisfy business needs. Identify candidates for enterprise wide frameworks or common services
  • Support the creation of plans and actions to enable the delivery of the Company’s technology strategy and specific technical solutions
  • Create solution designs or provide input/oversight on solution designs as appropriate
  • Provide estimates or review estimates and provide recommendations on staffing
  • Consults with Applications Solutions Delivery, Operations & Production Services and others, as appropriate, to ensure proposed solutions “fit” into enterprise architecture models and identifies when it is necessary to modify an application or architecture to ensure delivery of a solid solution
  • Ensure solution interface requirements to all other necessary CLIENT systems are identified and addressed
  • Analyzes the current environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommends a course of action for solution
  • Solves technical problems with little or no precedent and guides the search for practical solutions. Communicates problem resolution to all appropriate parties
  • Maintains a current technical skill set in applications development, data management, and various middleware technologies
  • Maintains a deep understanding of the business functions and processes within CLIENT and the airline industry
  • Supports the development of a strong technology organizational culture, values and reputation in CLIENT’s markets and with all staff, customers, clients, and partners
  • Embraces technology standards and solutions to enable “best practices” and a sound operating environment.
  • Mentors other IT staff members
  • As a change agent within the company for IT transformation, works proactively to maintain healthy relationships with both IT and business functions within the company

 

 

Education   

          

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology Management or equivalent relevant technology experience. Advanced degree is a plus.

 

Work experience    

     

Minimum 10+ years of technology architecture, design and solutions delivery experience in organizations with large and complex information technology project requirements. Significant experience in solutions definition and implementations spanning multiple platforms and environments (large-scale transaction processing environments, client/ server environments, SOA architectures, etc.). Significant (5 years minimum, 10 years preferred) experience using CLIENT and other airline industry data in large scale airfare pricing systems and/or airline fare management and pricing decision support systems.

Airline Industry IT knowledge in areas of airfare pricing, fare Management, and pricing decision support systems.
