Platform Software Senior Principal Engineer /BIOS Architect - Austin, TX

As a BIOS Architect, youll work with an experienced team of engineers to research, specify, and develop BIOSfeatures for next generationproducts, driving industry leading IP / feature development. Youll apply skills and experience across the full cycle of software development (specification development and review, debug and validation) to enable features and capabilitiesof platforms in areas like UEFI drivers, thermal, power management, security, manageability, manufacturability, configurability and embedded controllers. This position is in the Client Product Group Software Engineering Organization.

Role Responsibilities

-Take ideas from concept phase through delivery, including creating high level design docs, scoping design and requirements, and detailed spec creation

-Proof of Concept design and implementation/productizing

-Platform Core Team participation and negotiation for prioritization of technology feature implementation

-Work with Industry forums for spec development like UEFI, DMTF, PCI Sig, ACPI, etc

-Distill complex concepts into material marketing and non-technical teams can understand

-Work across teams and organizations to champion ideas and gain alignment

-Ability to take ownership of overall UEFI platform design throughout the platform lifecycle



-Bachelors or higher degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar field

-Expertise with Intel and/or AMD system architectures

-12+ years experience in BIOS / firmware SW development

-UEFI Programming expertise

-Proven track record in product development/design with strong Program Management skillset

-Low level programming capability -system/motherboard/device/chipset level

-Experience with analyzers and other HW tools to debug complex system SW issues


-Masters degree

-Familiarity with Wyse Thin Client products or similar

-Agile software development experience

-Familiarity with higher level programming (apps / tools)
