Job Description

Role: Portfolio Manager
Location: Milpitas, CA
Duration: Long Term contract

The Portfolio Manager, Project Management Office (PMO) will be responsible for

  • the Portfolio's overall project management function, providing expert knowledge and support and monitoring progress and reporting on the portfolio status
  • providing leadership, integration and management of PMO processes and functions to improve the consistency and efficiency of program/project deliveries
  • for establishing and running the Project Management Office with the objective of ensuring all projects are delivered using a 'best-practice' Project Delivery Approach and are delivered within the agreed scope, time, cost and quality
  • secondly managing projects/programs directly as necessary
  • the development, and on-going iteration of the organization's Project Delivery Approach

Key Requirements:

  1. Experience should be 12+ years
  2. Should be PMP certified
  3. Should have worked in a large metrics organization

Key responsibilities:

  1. Define the PMO strategy and lead the design and implementation of a common project management methodology, standards and tools to drive and facilitate the successful delivery of projects
  2. Lead the execution of a PMO governance, reporting and review framework to provide a holistic view of all organizational project activity
  3. Manage interdependencies and coordination across projects to ensure that information relating to project deliverables, risks and issues are effectively communicated between stakeholders and that key performance indicators are monitored and evaluated
  4. Identify major risks and issues across the program and integrate diverse stakeholders with the broader program agenda and to proactively understand and mitigate risks
  5. Define business strategies and organizational policies to enable the strategic coordination of multiple major projects and initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness of projects
  6. Foster collaborative and mutually supportive relationships with project leaders and senior stakeholders, assess cross-functional project team capability, provide coaching, training and support to enhance the project/program management capability, and improve collaborative development and project results
  7. Achieving cooperation, compliance and engagement in the value of a PMO function in an environment of conflicting interests and opinions
  8. Identifying new and innovative project management approaches and tools and embed these in the behavior and day to day activities of the organization's operations
