Functional Title - Principal Network Engineer

TSG is building next generation scalable, efficient data center as a service using the latest innovation infrastructure. Building on top of the cloud deployments in BNY Mellon, we are aggressively automating and bridging the green field cloud with the existing virtual computing environments.

The Role

We are seeking a Principal Network Engineer that will be part of a technical team who-s function is architecting, designing and supporting the Bank's Network with regards to the Internal Data Center Infrastructure and End User networks globally. This is an important role for BNYM as our goal is to stay on top of the latest technologies and leading the industry with our innovation and drive.

This Engineer will be responsible for taking projects from start to finish on their own, working closely with Project managers, Production Services and LOBs alike. Other responsibilities are setting standards, Creating technical documentation and configurations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work within the team to drive the technology roadmap for the Banks Data

Center Infrastructure Globally
  • Analyze and apply advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation of complex networking problems.
  • Test vendor and open-source solutions and products in a lab environment.
  • Address audits and effectively communicate the banks responses.
  • Create and Present technical documentation for Management, Audit and Production Support teams


Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree preferred

7 or more years of diverse experience in multiple areas of information technology required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus

  • Strong Experience in networking and Cisco particularly
  • Strong understanding of network fundamentals with the ability to architect, design, test and implement sound solutions
  • Experience with technology audits
  • Excellent presentation and network troubleshooting skillset.

  • Ability to understand and articulate cloud solutions.
  • Experience with Cisco systems Data Center products, protocols and features
  • Ability to lead an effort to improve network functions with DevOps mindset.
  • Two or more (2+) years of experience with REST API development a plus
