Job Description


Major Purpose

This principal level position is responsible for all aspects of the Company's Systems production, Azure cloud Infrastructure, VMWare, Hyper-V, Xen, KVM, Cloudstack, Openstack,, and non-production infrastructure including but not limited to the overall architecture, installation, configuration, capacity planning, integration, deployment, maintenance, optimization, security, administration and monitoring of the 6000+ Servers. You will provide specialized expertise within multiple IT disciplines such as Windows Server, Azure, AWS, Hyper-V, VMware, Xen Hypervisor, Linux, Active Directory, and M365 as well as general knowledge of related areas. You’ll champion the specifications, installation, integration, testing, administration, troubleshooting, support and documentation of Windows Server operating systems, storage and solutions. Your strong technical skills will address systems and technologies including, but not limited to Xen, VMWare, Hyper-V, AWS, Azure, M365, Windows Server, Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server, SharePoint, OneDrive, DFS, AD, DHCP, DNS, IIS, VMware vSphere, ESXi and Hyper-V. You’ll perform in-depth analysis and technical support of systems, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support. Finally, you will provide operating systems planning and evaluation for performance analysis, capacity planning, hardware upgrades, and act as a tier 4 resource.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

• Minimum of 15 years of related experience

• Masters in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent combined experience in large

organization, complex, distributed systems.

• Microsoft Windows (all versions)

• Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, M365, and Google Cloud) along with automation and CI/CD

experience is preferred with Git, Jenkins, Artifactory integration experience

• Infrastructure software development and automation skills using Go and Python

• Proven experience with virtual network and security constructs of AWS and/or Azure

• Experience implementing infrastructure-as-code concepts and technologies

• Modern CI/CD practices and containerization technologies (docker, kubernetes)

• Experience with fundamental network and security technologies such as IP routing, LAN/WAN,

firewalls, load balancers, web proxies, and DNS

• Able to consume APIs as well as create APIs for others to consume

• Strong background with Linux and irtualization technologies

• Ability to seek clarity during times of ambiguity by working with others

• Able to mentor engineers in software development and modern CI/CD practices

• Data analysis and data mining using tools such as the ELK stack or Splunk

• Possess analytical skills and willingness to “dig deep”

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Minimum of 12-15-18 years of related experience with a Masters in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent combined experience in large organization, complex, distributed systems.

• Microsoft Active Directory including Azure AD and hybrid scenarios

• Microsoft System Center products including Configuration Manager and Operations Manager

• Understanding of server virtualization using Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware ESX, XEN, and Datacenter products

• Microsoft EPP and Symantec Antivirus protection

• Microsoft Windows (all versions)

• Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, M365, and Google Cloud) along with automation and CI/CD experience is preferred with Git, Jenkins, Artifactory integration experience

• Microsoft Terminal services

• Knowledge of Microsoft clustering and replication

• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Exchange

• Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server including Azure SQL

• Working knowledge of SharePoint Server

• PowerShell, and other scripting experience (actively utilized)

• Create and deliver towards a cloud blueprint for standard application infrastructure.

• Execute prototypes and technical feasibility assessments for new technologies, including testing cloud compute resource variations to improve database performance, infrastructure automation techniques and software or product version upgrades

• Automation experience with: CloudFormation, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible is required platform

experience with Windows & SQL Server is a must, MySQL and Linux is a plus

• !Mid-Large scale complex M365 user adoption experience

• Experience in Agile development

• Experience in DevOps culture and practice

• Network Printing Services on Microsoft operating systems

• Perform root cause analysis of problems and incidents

• Management of Microsoft server security configuration and patching using WSUS, SCCM or other Enterprise tools

• Administration of server hardware and software inventories and documentation

• Disaster Recovery and business continuity planning and testing

• Demonstrate intermediate scripting knowledge and automation skills with PowerShell

• Ability to comprehend and plan systems architecture and design

• Must have a working knowledge of basic project management and task tracking skills

• Ability to manage multiple high priority project deliverables

• Monitor and work Jira/RemedyForce customer support tickets as requested

• Research, recommend and introduce new technologies and new uses of existing technologies

• Self-motivated and team-oriented with an eagerness to learn and grow

• Outstanding customer focus and relationship building skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication with proven documentation skills

• Excellent time management and organizational skills

• Proven analytical and problem solving abilities

• Available for 24/7 support in the event of scheduled downtime or platform outages and rotational

On-Call schedules

• Perform other duties as assigned
