Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.
Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops test set software, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.
- Bachelor's Degree in Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 5 years related experience OR Master's in STEM discipline with 3 years software engineering experience
- Experience with Solaris, Linux, VxWorks and Windows development
- Experience and Proficiency with C/C++/C#/Python
- Experience troubleshooting embedded, real-time software on a VxWorks platform.
- Active DoD Security Clearance
Knowledge of spacecraft systems preferred, including high-speed digital, RF, and Power Converter systems.
Previous experience with object oriented software development practices
Previous experience Linux, VxWorks, instrument drivers, networking, make files, etc.
