Job Description

Tabula Rasa HealthCare is seeking a talented, successful, and experienced Principal Solutions Architect that will thrive in a highly collaborative workplace while engaging in the development process. The Principal Solutions Architect will be responsible for planning, designing, developing, and implementing technology solutions to address complex business issues. This role is the primary technical owner of our products and offerings and will be responsible for providing technical leadership within the Product Development department. Consistent with the Scaled Agile Framework, the Principal Solutions Architect will be responsible for high level architecture decisions and planning, as well as reviewing lower level architecture decisions that are made at the team level.

Essential Job Functions:

Primary Functions
  • Lead the development of a tactical vision for product technologies and systems architecture, including plans for merging each distinct product area into the greater MRM platform.
  • Unify system architecture and design around the strategic vision of each product as well as the organization as a whole.
  • Facilitate the design, development, and implementation of technical solutions to address sustainability, availability, quality, performance, data integrity, and stability.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and processes to ensure the highest quality products which follow industry standards and open architectures wherever practical.
  • Collaborate and coordinate across the Product Development organization, the Architecture Committee, the Product Change Advisory Board, and other peer organizations to produce the highest quality products.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Understand requirements and constraints for key architectural drivers.
  • Drive toward shared architectures that promote re-use and facilitate integration with EHR and Pharmacy systems using industry standards such as FHIR, SMART, JSON, FLIR, OpenID Connect, OAuth2, etc.
  • Mature the Processes and Engineering Practices of the organization in coordination with VP of Product Development
  • Provide architectural blueprints, reference architectures, and technical guidance to the Product Development team.
  • Nurture Cloud Native expertise internally to drive adoption of Cloud Native principles and techniques.
  • Chair the Architecture Guild and participate in the Product Change Advisory Board.
  • Recommend tools and processes that will increase efficiency, quality, and morale within the product development organization.
  • Assist product leadership in the development of budget and schedule.

Education and Certifications:
  • BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Master's Degree (preferred)
  • Security+ or other security related (preferred)
  • Cloud Computing certifications including AWS and GCP certification (preferred)
  • Any major Software Architecture Certification (preferred)

Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in software architecture.
  • 15+ years in software industry, ideally within multiple domains (QA, Software Development, Architecture, etc).
  • Experience using methodologies and techniques to lead infrastructure migrations, including mass application movements into the cloud including implementation of Google or AWS within in large regulated enterprise environments.
  • Experience designing FDA Validated Systems. (preferred)
  • Experience with SNOMED and FHIR (preferred)
  • Experience with the design and development of public and private API systems. (Preferred)

Qualifications:
  • Expansive knowledge of software development processes and technologies.
  • Expansive knowledge of architectural styles and design patterns.
  • Experience with distributed software systems and multi-tier architectures.
  • Data modeling and design experience with both relational and non-relational persistent stores.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of cloud computing architecture.
  • Experience designing FDA Validated Systems. (preferred)
  • Experience with SNOMED and FHIR (preferred)
  • Firm understanding of cybersecurity best practices, including authentication and authorization systems, attack methodologies, and countermeasures.
  • Experience using methodologies and techniques to lead infrastructure migrations, including mass application movements into the cloud including implementation of Google or AWS within in large regulated enterprise environments.
  • Must be familiar with the current state of mobile technology and mobile best practices throughout a variety of industries.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation abilities.
  • Experience with the design and development of public and private API systems. (Preferred)
  • Data engineering experience within the healthcare domain.
  • Firm knowledge of Healthcare compliance standards including HITECH, HITRUST, and HIPAA.
  • Understand business model development.
