Principal Technical Writer
Technical Writer. Responsible for the preparation, development, editing and revision of technical documentation for accomplishing and recording aircraft inspection and repairs via Standard Visual Work Cards (SVWCs) for incorporation into the Joint Integrated Maintenance Information System. Coordinates with government personnel from all aircraft maintenance disciplines (engineering, inspection, quality, maintenance, etc) and Hexagon team members to understand customer requirements, and develop accurate, complete SVWCs using various software tools and technical data consistent with industry best practices.
US Citizenship. Ability to obtain security clearance. Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline with a minimum of 8 years of applicable experience preferably within the DoD or equivalent experience.
Experience in developing, editing and publishing aircraft maintenance technical documents including manuals, industry-standard work cards, forms and other related documents. Ability to analyze and revise aircraft maintenance tasks to improve work flow and increase manpower efficiency while ensuring compliance with government, original equipment manufacturer and industry directives and standards. Adept at learning and using computer–based resources. Understands and can apply the data contained in USAF maintenance data systems. Strong analytical skills. Outstanding communication, organizational, and teamwork skills. Capable of working with a high degree of independence. DESIRED: Broad understanding of Air Force aircraft maintenance environment. Experience in Reliability Centered Maintenance and Maintenance Steering Group 3. Knowledgeable of Program Depot Maintenance Scheduling System, S1000D processes, and use of Framemaker for SVWC authoring, maintenance and distribution
