Job Description

Summary: The Programmer Analyst will develop, maintain, enhance and support software for use by staff and its constituents. Expected to use/maintain industry and organizational standards in design and development. Work with team and/or independently, depending on project. This position will report to the Software Development Manager in the Division of Information Technology.

Salary Range: 80k-90k+ benefits

 

 

 

 

 Primary Responsibilities:

 

• Analyze and understand User needs.

• Develop new software including design, coding, testing and integration.

• Enhance existing software to improve functionality in response to needs.

• Provide troubleshooting and debugging support when issues arise with software.

• Research methods and tools, keep up-to-date with the latest vendor software versions.

• Other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Requirements Required Education and/or Experience:

 

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred but not required.

• Minimum of 3+ years’ experience with web development, ASP.Net, C#, MVC framework, and Javascript/JQuery required.

• Additional experience or training in databases (such as Oracle and/or SQL Server), responsive design, and web services preferred. Experience in Aptify AMS is a plus.

• Good communication skills (verbal and written) necessary to interact with team members.

• Attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

• Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a member of a team.

• Ability to plan and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

• Ability to establish good working relationships with division teams and management.

 

 

 

 

 

Here is some additional information in case you find it helpful:

 

  1. What is the percentage of front end vs. back end development responsibility?    Hard to say, depends on the project. Usually a .Net web front end calling back-end procedures and views. Probably 75% front end. We're also using MVC and its structure.
  2. What is the application they’d be working on / what does it do from a business standpoint?   A variety of applications the College uses in its Verification programs (e.g. accrediting Trauma, Cancer centers nationally), modifications to our website, software to plan our Clinical Congress, to run our membership association, to help our members record and track their continuing medical education.
  3. What is the percentage breakdown of new development vs. maintenance and enhancements?    It depends on the year, but maybe approximately 25% new development, 50% enhancements, and 25% maintenance.
  4. How big is the development team?   The IT team consists of:  9 developers, 1 data analyst, 1 DBA, 4 project managers, 3 business analysts, 4 network engineers, and 6 tech support.
